šŸˆ Possible Departures?

Would love to see us have room for Jarez Parks.... any chance any of the following find greener pastures elsewhere after being buried in the depth chart?

Ronnie Clark, RB, RS Junior - great kid, great athlete - terrible Achilles tendons. We have TONS of RBs. Might he decide it's time?

Johnny Dwight, DL, RS Junior - hasn't shown anything yet, but DL bodies are precious.

JC Hassenhauer, C, Senior- if Brandon Kennedy (RS soph) seems the heir apparent to Bozeman, would he leave?

Josh Casher, OG/C, RS Junior - if he's not playing center, it has to become obvious that Lester Cotton can only play tackle, or he has to beat Cotton and Warmack out for playing time, at guard. A bit undersized compared to the others.

Derek Keif, WR, RS Junior- tall and lanky, one would think if Robert Foster stays he's behind him, Cam Sims, Trevon Diggs, and others.

Raheem Falkins, WR, RS Senior - has seen less time than Keif.

OJ Smith, DL, RS Junior - same song, 2nd verse as J Dwight.

I'd hate to say it but

I think a few of them leave for sure and Parks makes it during Summer.

I'd say likely candidates are

Falkins
Ronnie Clark
BJ Emmons
Johnny Dwight
Derek Keif (Which I had high hopes for, sucks he didn't make it)
OJ Smith

I think some of these are just going to receive the talk from CNS about where they see their future heading and a few will just see the writing on the wall on their own terms. They aren't bad players at all, just not good enough in this Alabama era to make it on our team.

I don't know if he's going to be allowed to stay. Kiffin didn't give him many reps because he was inconsistant with assignments. Will a new WR coach be able to reach him? If so, that still leaves other issues to be addressed like being in the right place, at the right time (IE: classes, meetings, etc.)

Keep in mind Falkins has graduated.

Foster is most likely gone once he graduates. I've heard West Virginia is tge likely landing spot. TerryP is spot on with his comments as the coaches simply didn't trust him to go out there and make tge block and get to the right places.

Falkins has been plagued much like Ronnie Clark, with injuries. Issues with a broken leg I do believe.

Yep. Fractured his leg in the summer of '15 and sat our all of that season. He was stil dealing with leg isses in spring camp of last season. There was a good amount of speculation it may have been a career ending injury. He did play last season...I'm thinking it was at least four games, maybe five, and I don't recall him having a reception.

I know Kief played at least three times (games) than Falkins. I want to say he played in at least 12 games last season (special teams and receiving corps.)

As always, it will all work out between now and summer practice. Some of the ones mentioned will probably leave, some will stay. I am more concerned with the ones who have not been mentioned that leave for whatever reason.

I agree, and when you are taking 20 blue chippers in these classes, whoever it is will make the headlines.

Can Parks be signed even if we lose 10? Isn't there a limit to the number of freshmen that can be brought in? I know that the blue shirts will apply to next year's class, but they are coming in on their own first. If Alabama "abuses" the blue shirt rule, you can guarantee that the blue shirt rule will change.

I had high hopes for Kief also. Solid kid from a solid family.

Maybe he just peaked athletically in high school...
He was a redshirt sophomore last season and pretty well played with the 2's all year. Numbers wise, he didn't make much of an impact. The only person outside of the three starters who played more last season was Cam Sims and Trevon Diggs.

I'm of the opinion he's coming along at the pace the staff thought he would--a guy that will begin to contribute this upcoming season and should be a mainstay in the rotation by his RS Sr. season.

Sgt it may have been that Nick signed this guy to just try and get a start at recruiting in Ohio. JMO
I don't see that as being the case.

We're looking at a kid whe held offers from his home state school, OSU, along with Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma among others. He wasn't a kid who coaching staffs expected to come in and contribute immediately.

And, just a personal note here.

We're talking about players whe may look at the depth chart and see they aren't looking to contribute meaningful minutes the next couple of years. This type of thread isn't new. There was one last season around spring camp and it came back up again after spring camp when everyone was talking about the QB race...and which QB they thought would leave the program.

As one example, Barnett came up a few times. Within a few months the conversation went from "he may be looking to transfer so he can get playing time" to "he's a quitter" when he left to get playing time.

Something about that ... it's just 'off' to me.

Transferring out of season and quitting on your team 4 games into the season when you are the backup and 1 play away from being needed to continue a championship run are Entirely 2 different things IMO. (Run on sentence)
I understand your point. How many understood Barnett's?

If he'd have stayed he'd have lost a year. Choosing to leave when he did (despite the circumstances and the "influences" he was hearing) was a smart move. Personally, I have a hard time with the word "quitter" when he's looking out for himself.

Like a lot of things, another situation where I see things a little differently than others, eh?

Remember that Barnett was the starter for game 1. While I don't think he played horrible, I do believe he didn't fight to keep the job (my opinion). He quickly ruled himself out of any playing time.

I believe our staff, in an attempt to be coy with the press and S.C., to start Barnett as a ploy; with the staff, Barnett and Hurts and the team knowing all along that Hurts was going to replace Barnett quickly in the game and be the starter the rest of the year. Which didn't sit well with Barnett.
