There is legitimate optimism for the special teams and starts with one booming leg. In the eighth and final installment in a countdown to the beginning of the fall camp for the University of Alabama football program, The Tuscaloosa News takes a closer look at the special teams.

Adam Griffith was 12-19 on field goals and missed only one extra point last year.
Starters
When is the last time a punter was as talked about as UA returning punter JK Scott? Scott, a sophomore, comes back after nothing short of a sensational season as a freshman, a year in which he was a finalist for the Ray Guy Award, given annually to the nation's top punter. How good was he? Well, Nick Saban when asked how Scott could possibly improve said "sometimes good enough is good enough." That's lofty praise for Scott. Kicker Adam Griffith comes back for his junior season after fighting through a back injury in 2014. He hit on 12 of 19 attempts last season. Long snapper Cole Mazza also returns. Back-up quarterback Cooper Bateman was the holder a season ago, and should probably continue in that role.
Overview
Scott is a weapon who flips field position and keeps the opposing offense pinned back in bad field position. Griffith is presumed healthy and looks to improve upon his consistency. Even while struggling last season, Griffith had the full support of Saban, who never wavered in his belief of his kicker. If Griffith improves, Alabama's special teams unit could indeed be special.

My faith is strong in him. He has time to recover from an injury that would have kept most of us from even trying to attempt to walk.

Reuben, my understanding was this type of injury was a recurring thing and there's a good chance he will hurt it again sometime this year. Any truth to that or is he good to go?

That's why it's called faith, my friend.
In all seriousness. I just started seeing a new physical therapist. (see post in The Quad.) I think that there has been a big shift in how things are "healed" as of late. Not sure if this will help Adam or not, but I am sure the Bama training staff is staying on the cutting edge.
