🧑‍🤝‍🧑 / 🏡 Pictures of the day -- From the wild to the crazy to the beautiful.

When I was a kid, all of our bikes came with those types of pedals. But we were even more insane and used to go buy the "bear trap" pedals and change them out. Those things were even worse for your shins.

But yeah, the things in that picture definitely made you tougher. You'd go home with new scars just about every time you went outside. And to this day, I'll get a scratch or be bleeding and have NO idea how I got it or how long it's been there. I also still have a few scars from when I was younger; 1 on my head, 1 in between my little toe and the next toe on my right foot, and one on my shin (not from a bike pedal, though). but I can remember the moment that gave me those scars, where I was, and who I was with.

By the way, I hated these thing. My two nephews had one and I had to ride with at least one of them.

We'd always try to see who would get sick first. We'd load it up, then get as many other kids as we could to spin it as fast as they could. Inevitably, somebody was getting sick.

A few years ago my friends DIL had some health issues so he was the "baby sitter" for his 4 yr old grandson for a few days. We'd take this kid to the parks, give him his trucks, and he's good to go. We went to one in Goose Creek one day which had a merry-go-round.

Now. He's four, right? And, small for his age. Dennis and I told him, "hang on because we're going to make this go fast." He did...then he didn't. That little SOB was thrown a good 6' or more. He did land in a sandy area after bouncing off a pine tree.

It was so funny seeing that little kid fly through the air. The look on his face? You could see he was trying to figure it out; "how do I act?"

Q: "Did you hang on?"
A: "No."

He didn't say another word though he didn't get back on it that afternoon.

The biggest lazy move is assuming everyone born in a century's quintile is definable in a box. Hell, if I believed that I'd read my horoscope.

So, I'm a '65 model, first beyond boomers to Gen X, born ten minutes as a pisces ahead of aries.

None of it means anything. If' I'd been born three months earlier, or eleven minutes later, being a boomer and aries means nothing. I'd have the same parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. I'd be subjected to the same stories, lessons and experiences that made me who I am. Nothing changes.

If you've been around long enough, you'll have read that every generation is either spoiled, snotty brats who'll never get it together, or they are the comfortable generation that's greedily benefitted from agreeable equity and real estate markets.

In general, generalizations are wrong.

I paid attention to birth months when interviewing people for the EPP job as well as food/service. I used it as a broaching mechanism to get background info on their family life.

Today? If I can find out? I'll use it in a lot of situations. IE: If I were to meet someone born in July I'll got to November, then Thanksgiving, and make an off the wall comment about something about the holiday. In a matter of minutes I'll have family background, eating habits...

I know this fella...Joe, Jack, John? It doesn't matter. He was born...something around your birthdate. I don't know.

I remember him talking about Thanksgiving. (laugh) His parents were nuts...but, different story. You know what I mean, right? You've seen families at Thanksgivings?
