Will he start after this coming season? Who's in line to take Javy's place after he graduates? B.J.? I haven't heard anything on Jones in a while. That's why I'm asking

Phelon just arrived so it's hard for me to say anything about how he'll do, where he'll end up, etc.

I can tell you this.

I have a friend who was probably the most outspoken critic I know about Phelon and his dad when word started surfacing about the possibility he'd join our team.

This friend also has a son who is one of the members of our secondary, so it's pretty easy to get some opinions on how players are doing from a players viewpoint.

All that said, his attitude (my friends, Phelon's dad and Phelon himself) has changed completely since his last year in high school and his first few weeks on campus.

I'm told Phelon has been working very hard in the conditioning drills and workouts for the summer. Perhaps all the shake-ups with LSU and trying to find another SEC school to play for really have made their mark in Phelon.

That's left to be seen.

Does he replace Javy? Good question, and I have my doubts he'll end up being the guy but we'll see.

He'll be eligible to play in 2010 but so will Kirkpatrick (and it's safe to say you can chalk his name at a CB position with great odds you'd be right.) Then, you have to add Milliner, but he'll be young compared to Phelon.

BJ might be the guy.

It's going to be fun to see this all shake-out. One thing is for sure, we very well may be looking at the best defensive secondary seen at Alabama in decades.
