I've been a fan of Joe Pa for a long time. I think it would be a great decision for the Big 10 to add a team and have a championship game. I was glad to see in the article that his surgery was a success and he is re-energized.

Ever since Penn St. joined the Big Ten, I have always thought that Notre Dame should go ahead and join the conference to make it an even dozen. I despise ND's "independent" status, too often it gives them a free pass.

The life of the Irish as independent is really good with their BCS privileges and their own TV contract. I don't see Notre Dame interested in making a step joining the Big Ten Conference in the near future.

You are probably right, but that wasn't my take on it. I figured he was talking about THE Ohio State University and THE University of Michigan. If that's the case he was probably justified in what he said and thought.

I think Joe Pa was talking about someone within the Big 10 who really likes the status quo and isn't going alomg with anything that would upset the apple cart. I'm not familiar at all with Big 10 internal politics, but OSU and Meechegan are the obvious candidates.
