We've touched on this on another thread, but I thought I might start another to monitor offensive records. Despite being the defensive master, passing and receiving records haven't held up well under Saban. Tua's career passing stats are working through the top ten all-time at Bama, and we have dueling reception records between Ruggs and Jeudy.

Career Passing

Through four games, Tua has thrown for 1,300 yards and 17 TDs. Over just four games, his TD production is good to tie for ninth for the best season in Bama history. With those 17 TDs, Tua has 71 career TD passes, just six behind AJ's TD record.

9,019 AJ McCarron (686 of 1,026) 2010-13

4,602 Tua Tagovailoa (294 of 432) ..........................................................2017-18 (Pre-season)

Tua trails AJ by 3,117 yards with eight remaining regular season games. If we play two post-season games, that's 312 a game to break it.

TD passes in a game: Two Bama QB's have thrown five touchdowns in a single game. Hollingsworth's Ole Miss gem, and Tua thrice. Four TD performances have happened 19 times in Bama history. Once before Saban (Shula in 1985). Tua and AJ tallied seven each, Blake twice, and JPW and Jalen once each.

200 yard passing performances: In 127 years of Bama football, a passer has achieved 200 yards in one game about 195 times, I think, with Hunter sitting on top with his 484 in a losing effort, along with another eight games over 200. Namath did it twice, as did Sloan, and Todd once. Of those 195 games, 89 have occurred under Saban. AJ and JPW are tied at 20 (a little over half of JPW's are under Saban), McElroy has 16, Tua is at 15 already, and Coker got 9 in his one season.

Career TD Receptions:

15 Joey Jones.........................................................................................................1980-83
15 Julio Jones........................................................................................................2008-10

Both Ruggs and Jeudy are within striking distance of Amari, but they should certainly settle in above Ridley.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — With a 7-yard touchdown scramble in the second quarter, Tua Tagovailoa has now found the end zone more than any player in Alabama’s history. The score gave the junior 81 total touchdowns in his career, passing AJ McCarron for No. 1 on the Crimson Tide’s all-time list.

It took Tagovailoa 27 games to reach 81 touchdowns, while McCarron reached 80 over 53 games. Earlier Saturday, Tagovailoa connected with DeVonta Smith for a 74-yard touchdown pass.

Rick Karle
I want you think about it: I want you to realize what we are seeing.
The Alabama Football program has been around for 127 years.
Think about it: Bama’s current quarterback now has more career TD’s than any Crimson Tide QB in the history of the program, and Tua Tagovailoa has done it in a mere 20 games.
In today’s 59-31 win over Ole Miss, Tua threw six TD passes and ran for another.
Think about it: Tua has set the school TD record, as he’s been responsible for 86 touchdowns.
Think about it: Tua is responsible for more career TD’s than Bart Starr, Harry Gilmer, Joe Namath, Ken Stabler, Steadman Sheely, Pat Trammell, Steve Sloan, Scott Hunter, Walter Lewis, Jeff Rutledge, Richard Todd, Jay Barker, Freddie Kitchens, Brodie Croyle, Andrew Zow, Tyler Watts, Greg McElroy, AJ McCarron, John Parker Wilson, Jake Coker, Blake Sims, Jalen Hurts and every other quarterback who has worn the Crimson.
Think about it: Tua may have ten more games this season to pad his numbers.
Think about the eye-popping numbers. Really. Just think about them.
Don’t let your weekend go by without appreciating the son of Galu N Diane Tagovailoa and don’t move into the future without remembering him.
Just take a moment... to think about it.

I really believe he's driven to finish the job this season after the way last year ended. I've been a bama fan for 35+ years and we are definitely witnessing something special. Alot of people didn't appreciate AJ until after he was gone , hopefully all of us appreciate what Tua has done and the way he has represented the program. He , Blake Sims, and Jalen will always be favorites of mine.

In Rick Karle's list from the late 60's on I saw all of them. Tua is the best of I have seen. He makes it look easy. So easy we can overlook what he is accomplishing. He is the most accurate passer I have seen at bama and at the college level.

^Rick was right about a lot but he was off on one number. He stated he did this all in 20 games. 20 games as a starter, sure but not 20 total. Note the difference between the 2018 total TD and the career total(not counting this year). Those 11 extra TD did not just magically appear. Those were in garbage time in 2017 and the second half of the title game, that year.

Once before Saban (Shula in 1985). Tua and AJ tallied seven each, Blake twice, and JPW and Jalen once each. As we all know, Tua now stands alone in this record with his 6 TD game against Ole Miss. This effort, along with his run for a TD, also set a new record for TD responsibility at 7, eclipsing the records that stood last season at 5, tied by Hollingsworth (all passes), Shaun Alexander and Santonio Beard (all rushes), and Jalen (4 pass, 1 rush).
