I ran across this post earlier this morning and thought it was worth the share. Robertus has compiled a list of the endowment numbers from the SEC schools. As you might expect A&M tops the list followed by Vanderbilt.

1.) Texas A&M 8.73

2.) Vanderbilt 3.67

3.) Florida 1.36

4.) Missouri 1.26

5.) Alabama 1.06

6.) Kentucky .99

7.) Tennessee .92

8.) Arkansas .82

9.) Georgia .79

10.) Louisiana St. .72

11.) S. Carolina .55

12.) Auburn .52

13.) Mississippi .52

14.) Miss. St. .34

It's been two years since I looked that up and at that point it was just under 500 million (over 800 schools, private and public, in that average.)

FWIW, in 2013 schools reported almost a 12% return which at face value sounds really good but one has to take into account the preceding years haven't been so hot.

Off the top of my head...the way I recall it reading most schools have a long term goal to get a return of about 7.5% and it's been falling short of that mark for about a decade.
