Alabama picked up its 18th commitment for the class of 2014 on Sunday when four-star offensive lineman Ross Pierschbacher announced through a press release that he had switched his commitment from Iowa to the Crimson Tide.

Pierschbacher, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound tackle from Cedar Falls, Iowa, had been committed to the Hawkeyes since January but

"After considering many different options and things important to me, my family, and my future career, I am excited to announce that I have decided to play my collegiate career for Coach Saban and The University of Alabama," Pierschbacher said in the release.

Cedar Falls offensive lineman Ross Pierschbacher, who committed to Iowa in January, has switched to Alabama.

In an e-mail Pierschbacher, a 6-3, 275-pound inside O-lineman, sent to HawkeyeReport.com, the Cedar Falls High School senior wrote: “The past few weeks there has been speculation of my commitment to the University of Iowa Football program. I would like to end the speculation as I prepare to enter my senior season so that I may focus my attention to my team.“

I would like to thank Coach [Kirk] Ferentz, his coaching staff, and the University of Iowa for the offer to be part of Hawkeye Football. They have a great tradition, outstanding people and a top notch program.

Ross Pierschbacher (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls), the No. 1 ranked guard in the country, has committed to Alabama.

The No. 48 overall prospect initially committed to Iowa in January but after recent trips to both Alabama and Stanford, he flipped his pledge to the Crimson Tide. The Iowa native first visited Tuscaloosa last fall for the Iron Bowl and announced via email that he was making the switch from his hometown team.

And although it's already considered one of the top offensive line classes nationally, Alabama isn't done yet. The staff would like to add at least one more offensive tackle, specifically five-star recruit Cameron Robinson (West Monroe, La./West Monroe), who visited Tuscaloosa last month and has narrowed his list to Alabama and LSU.

The coaching staff also has its sights set on ESPN 300 guards Damien Mama (Bellflower, Calif./John Bosco), a friend of Talamaivao's, and Braden Smith (Olathe, Kan./Olathe).
