🏀 OT: On our late watch list: Prohm hired at Iowa State...

He will be under the gun right off. They return four starters from what was a very good team this past season.

Interesting story to me.

According to reports I read their first "target" was Marshall. After a miss here, and another miss or two there, they end up with Prohm. Don't get me wrong. I think it's a good hire.

We are talking about a job in the middle of what a lot consider a basketball breeding ground. There are many who'd say Iowa State is a better basketball program that the one we follow.

Now, I have to ask. What's the opinion of the Iowa State's Athletic Director's hire versus that of Battle?

The opinions are subject to change because of future results, but Prohm has a track record in college basketball that had he achieved at a more prestigious basketball school would have had him at or near yhe top of our lists. Because it was Murray State, his candidacy for our job had no sizzle. Avery has no track record as a coach at the college level, but because of his name recognition as a payer and a coach in the NBA, there was and is considerable excitement over his hiring. If sizzle is what you are measuring by, then Battle made the better hire. Three or four years from now we will have a better answer about who made the better hire. Will Prom be able to sustain and even build on Iowa State's recent success/Will Avery Johnson restore Alabama to the upper tier of SEC and NCAA basketball- these are the issues whose resolution will show which one was the best hire.
