If the proper approvals are granted, Brady Hoke will soon by referred to as the ā€J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach.ā€

And yes, I’m serious.

Per MLive.com:

Through their foundation, the Harris family made a $10 million donation to the university for the ā€œnaming and endowment of the head football coach position.ā€

The decision is on the agenda for the February 20th University of Michigan Board of Regents meeting. The Harris family has made several contributions to the Michigan athletic department. The football locker room is currently named in their honor.

Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon is actually the ā€Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics.ā€

Michigan isn’t the first school to do this. The guy you and I would call Stanford’s head football coach, David Shaw, is actually the ā€œBradford M. Freeman Director of Football.ā€

Having money is nice. Giving money is nicer. But what a weird thing for a advertising hoarder to give.

And what a weirder thing for a rich man to want. I don’t get it. Thank goodness I don’t have that kind of money to have to consider it.

Here's the link to the report I read...

the greed and egos that some of these people have is downright laughable.

if i had that kind of money and i donated that much to The University of Alabama, i wouldn't want recognition. all i'd want is for the money to be spent wisely; like for future upgrades, more equipment, things of that nature. and if they asked me if i'd want them to name something after me, i'd politely decline.

why can't giving the money and supporting your school be enough for these people. is it not enough that they have that much money to donate in the first place? apparently not. i guess they need everyone else to know, as well, who gave them that much money. what an ego.....

not to mention how idiotic it is to name a position after a person. i guess being the head football coach at the university of michigan isn't good enough for some people.

Stanford does it for sure. I think they just named the offensive coordinator position after Andrew Luck if I'm not mistaken. I think it is weak if you're trying that hard to get your name on something instead of being given that distinction.

I'm with sk33tr, all I'd want is more money to be used wisely, more towards educating our players than maybe other monies go towards, but I wouldn't mind some tickets as well for myself and family (4 total) to any game ever. Of course, with that kind of money I'm sure tickets aren't as hard to come by as they are currently.
