🏈 Oregon State hires Gary Andersen away from Wisconsin

Would this explain the "flat out egg" Wisconsin laid last week? I'll be honest with you guys. No way a team with a 3rd team QB blasts the #4 defensive team out of the water 59-0. It made me really consider that Delaney asked for Andersen and Wisconsin to take one for the good of the Big 10 in order to assure the Big 10 of a spot in the CFP.

Wisconsin was overrated. Ohio State has way more talent than anyone in their league. I don't see them taking a knee and I'm a conspiracy type person :)

He's taking a big step down, mid Big Ten to a low Pac12

I think it's becoming increasingly clear why the Wisky has a problem keeping coaches.

Barry? Is that what you're suggesting?

Here's something to think about for a minute...

Given the choice, would you rather have a guy like Alvarez as your athletic director or a guy like Bockrath? Barry has his faults but one of them isn't his devotion to the football program.

Alvarez may be a jerk, but he was a very good coach before he stepped upstairs. He would not be the first successful man who is hard to work for.

Not completely sure about this. Bielema's move to Arkansas was to me not taking a lesser job, but taking a sidestep to an equivalent job with a much bigger upside.

Much rather have Alvarez! I'd want someone that understands the stress and strains of the position and understands the hardships so many of these kids go through just to get a shot at college.

They both had about the same amount of success, tbqh. Can I choose Donna Shilala?

If you looked at Alvarez's resume/bio I'm willing to bet you'll find 10X the number of conference titles the sports programs at Wisky has won and probably just as many national titles when compared to Bockrath.

Remember, Bockrath screwed things up so badly at UA his next position was as AD at Yavapai (I think I spelled that correctly.)

As I recall, Bielema left Wisky because he was having issues with Barry on getting assistant coaches the compensation he felt they deserved. It resulted in six guys leaving for other positions.

I never believed that Anderson was a good fit despite him winning ball games. It's a lot like Ga Tech hiring Kingsbury and expecting him to continue running the triple option.

What happens to Luke Del Rio? He went to Oregon State specifically because of Riley. Does he follow him to Nebraska. He is from Colorado, so that may play into the decision.

From what I have read in the papers up here, the problem has been with AD BA meddling with the head coaches. BA was a good head coach, no doubt but something is wrong when 2 guys leave for other head coaching jobs.
