The NFL comparisons can be taken either one of two ways: literally or just to spur conversation. It will never happen, so those type comments don't really register with me. Personally, I think there are NFL teams that are undisciplined and do not play as a team and Alabama could 'challenge' them, but the point is moot. Again, never going to happen.
Texas A&M WILL give us plenty of problems, but different problems than LSU. For instance, LSU is stronger and faster and bigger on defense than A&M. LSU is also nastier in their approach to tackling than A&M;therefore, they present more problems from an injury standpoint.
Texas A&M has a quarterback that can make consistent throws, can read defenses fairly well, and CAN run the ball WELL. This quarterbacking factor alone requires a different game plan for our defense...one of containment in our pass rush and less all-out pass rush. This conservative defensive scheme up front allows more time for Manziel to pass by not collapsing his pocket = more chances for positive yards.
If there was a team out there with LSU's defense and Texas A&M's offense, you'd have a true challenge for Bama.
But, there's not.
I agree with Herbstreit, except that LSU at home, at night, with revenge on their minds, and the Hat calling trick play crap, is more dangerous from an explosive play standpoint. KState and Texas A&M are more balanced, imo, than LSU because LSU doesn't yet display consistent offensive play so they don't challenge our defense as much.
