🏈 One Position You Are Least Concerned About?

allright.... I'll play .... the LEAST....

Left Tackle - it's Cam's last year, I predict after what happened this summer he'll be focused as hell, and his shoulder should be fixed.

Honorable mention - Punter - JK Scott is amazing and Bobby ain't here to screw him up - he will revert to freshman form

Wide Receiver.

I think the top 3 will be fantastic. Still expect Rob Foster to start alongside Ridley, but Stewart can be special in his own right.

Throw in a 1,000 receiver in Deiter and a really solid player like Cam Sims, we are in business.

When it comes to the official depth chart we'll see three listed if they follow the same routine as last year.

It's safe to say we'll see a combination of these four; Dieter, Ridley, Stewart, and Foster. Ridley will be there. I suspect Dieter will as well just like Mullaney was last season. You say Foster? Maybe. I do wonder if you're following the "Foster narrative." I doubt we'll see much difference in the numbers of snaps at the end of the USC game.

The question that needs answering is who are the other two. I'm not as interested in who gets the official start as much as I'm interested in the six man rotation. After all, that is the offense.

** Foster narrative:

I heard one of the talking heads on ESPN say "Foster was the leading receiver before he was injured last season." That's just not true. Stewart had more receptions and more yards than Foster. I suspect Fosters sticks out because he had the lone TD reception versus Wisky ... but I'm just speculating here.

Here's where I also get lost. If we're looking at Stewart versus Foster, and we see Stewart had better numbers than Foster before he was injured ... then take into account Stewart has 3/4 of a year more experience—on the playing field—than Foster ...

But, we're supposed to expect Foster to overtake Stewart on the depth chart? Hey, you may be right. The thought leaves me shaking my head a bit ... doesn't pass my logic test.

@TerryP, many of the Bama fans who keep putting Foster over Stewart are probably doing so because of the latter's inconsistency. Last season Stewart had the knack of screwing up the relatively easy catch and yet making the acrobatic one.

Fair point.

I recall thinking he was getting ahead of himself early on in the year but also recall thinking he was starting to grow up as the year went on. I remember him beginning to stick out against UT and now that I'm thinking about it he had a good game against AU. Came pretty close to breaking a few against Michigan State, didn't he?

I think for Stewart, the switch flipped on for him during the UT game. Now he did have a few drops afterwards, but he seemed to have stepped his game up at that point. He ended the season with 63 cathes and had some BIG catches in BAMAs last 4 games. He came within an eyelash of breaking a few against MSU and Clemson!

Looking at the stats, we know Ridley will be there. I would say that he will be joined by Stewart and Dieter. From there, Foster and Sims have a combined 16 catches. Who will be the 6th man in that rotation? Will it be Kief, all of 1 career catch, or will it be Falkins turn to finally step up, or will one of the true freshmen, Simmons or Diggs? Right now, Diggs is working in the secondary, so the staff must feel pretty comfortable with the group.

Don't forget our TEs. OJ will lead the way, with Hentges, Forristall, and Irv Smith, JR waiting in the wings. Brandon Greene and 6'8" walk on Cam Stewart are the wildcards.

Wasn't familiar with that narrative whatsoever... Just with my own eyes so Foster being the most physically impressive WR we had until the injury, and watched Stewart drop enough balls to see some inconsistency. Obviously he finished strong but I like Foster's chances. You're right they probably get the same snaps, time will tell.
