Concerning the offensive line, JC Hassenhauer will prolly move into the center position - has an attitude, 2 years in the weight room, a bit of experience. Cam Rob and Peirschbacher will be great on the left. Shank has to do better on the right - Baldwin from JuCo will slide in, hopefully, at RT. I am kinda hoping he's the only one we have to 'worry' about to have the line be 'one' and 'in sync' - and a JuCo guy might be a bit more mature. IF he doesn't get it, then... Greene? Womack.... ? I dunno. Jackson was a disappointment, so not TOO concerned about replacing him.
At TE, if Howard leaves, so be it. He DID have a great game, got open, ran well. That's stuff he HASN'T done consistently this year, and he STILL needs to work on getting a hat on a hat - he was HORRIBLE against the gaturds. IF he bolts, because he's better suited for the NFL, and he can get 1st round money, I don't blame him. That will leave us very thin at TE - not that we've USED it a lot!! Big bodies in D Ball and B Greene if we choose to use them - not really sure how much we get from Hentges.
We are going to be VERY thin at RB. 2 inexperienced sophomores who've shown promise, and some walk -ons, nothing more. Harris and Bo Scar HAVE to step up BIGTIME.
At wide out we look to be good, and more talent is coming.
At QB, it will be interesting - I don't know what else to say.
At CB, I thought we would be fine next year, but then Tony Brown, amazing athlete, apparently has NO self-control. So we'll have Marlon, and then, maybe, Brown, if he comes back? IF not, Sheffield stepping up? Minkah moving over? At safety, no WAY E Jackson gets a 1st round grade - he's coming back. Then we have Harrison. Hootie Jones, Burgess-Becker, might step up and in. Mo Smith will still have a role. I think we are good in the secondary.
At LB, we are THIN. Rueben is a wild card, but I think he does like Ragland - makes himself a 1st rounder with another season. I am hoping Shaun Dion Hamilton will step up and become another CJ. Not sure about Keith Holcombe. I think that Tim Williams can go pro as a specialist, but 1st rounder? Doubtful. He may go for the money, or try to become an every down guy like Saban wants. Ryan Anderson will come back for one more year at beast mode. Christian Miller is fast and talented, and Rashaan Evans is ready for the next step.
Daron Payne will be another Jarran Reed before he leaves, but Josh Frazier needs to step up - haven't seen him much. Would LOVE to see J Allen stay, but he's a beast, and a 1st rounder - just don't see him staying. D Hand had a great game and is ready, and Tomlinson comes back, which is good. Where are the other DEs gonna step up from? Maybe Mehki Brown? Maybe Hulk Jones comes in as a true freshman and pulls a Daron Payne? Need to develop the depth again.
To ME, D-line/DE, and LB, just in the middle, are our HUGE needs. Allen goes early, the rest stay, and we can all have a Merry Christmas!!
