In the past week there was a thread here touching on Allen for a bit. After the SECCG, he said he was coming back. Then, around the CFPNC game there seemed to be some question in his mind (based purely on a tweet or comment—can't recall which) that was centering around him. This week it seems up in the air. His family wants him to get his degree. That, versus 1st round money.

A decision I don't envy, at all. We'll know for sure in 14 hours. Don't confuse position, with decision, please. As of last night he was still up in the air ... 60/40 - 50/50 type of a deal.

I've seen it suggested, and had a few say the same, that there are a few other factors weighing in here with JA that are not related to a degree or his projected draft order/position. I won't venture to read between the lines and try to discern the reasons, but based on what I've put together there seems to be a feeling that where we see him being projected and where they feel he'll end up are two different rounds. (Trying to think here ... who was the QB from the left coast who was projected as a 1st/2nd rounder and fell out of the draft in the last few years?)

On a side note: It's intriguing to me seeing a guy like Anderson come back, with degree in hand, and watching Allen who really wants his degree trying to make a decision.

Are you thinking of Brady Quinn in 2007? He was a potential #1 overall who fell to #22, but he was from Notre Dame, not the West Coast.

Maybe Allen has some health issues that would come up throughout the process....? If that's the case, he may need that year to get right.

We've seen a few Bama guys go through the entire draft process and be considerably damaged by the physical evaluations.

That thought crossed my mind as well.
