šŸˆ On the note of the injuries we've seen over the last few years. Two comments I found interesting.

This comes off of the thread about Goodman hearing UF coaches are upset about the possibility of playing Bama this year. A UofSC fan mentions their schedule and then another follows with the mention of their IR list. Coached by...?

A follow up from a Florida fan.

What kind of mindset do you believe Boom has when it comes to his S&C approach? Do you think it's safe to say he's following the Saban model of old, the same one we've seen with Cochran?

Why would anyone be upset about a challenge......?
So they play UGA....and lsu.... adding bama? Maybe
AU plays UGA, bama, Lsu,....
Miss State...same...
I would think marquee games are good for ur program...
USCe and Muschamp suck....low talent...mediocrity at best

They want it to come easy. They would rather have a record of note rather than earning a record of respect and a true championship

Injuries are part of the game. As much as you try to avoid them or condition to prevent them, football is still a violent game. Basketball is a contact sport. Football is a collision sport.

Love to hear UF fans bitch and moan. At their last SECC game, I sat in a UF section and they were in my ear after that first drive. One of them asked, "what do you think now?". I said, "I think this is a long game". The last three quarters were really enjoyable, I was able to really stretch out in the second half.

It's pretty good you can remember back that far.

And yet the staff believes they can have more control over how the injuries impact the team. We're seeing that.

Do you find it ironic, or just coincidental, we're seeing the UofSC team (which follows the same S&C program as Alabama did under Saban) dealing with a rash of injuries since he's been there? And, that the same thing happened in his time at UF?

From a layman's point of view it seems we're watching the birth of fundamental changes in how S&C programs are conducted.

Yes it does. I appreciate CNS's motivation and flexibility when it comes to making legit changes despite his obvious success.

Let's hope it works... If there is another year of serious injury issues, then it gets even more confusing.

Two people reading the same book can have very different impressions. Same goes with implementing a S&C program - you can use the "same" program but get different results. What I like about the current S&C program is how they measure everything to a fine detail. Cochran did a great job, but did he measure to the extent of the current program? Without measurement, how do you know what's working and what isn't?

It seems to me that the old way ( Cochran's way ) of developing as much muscle and strength as possible, was too much for the tendons to handle.
It seems as though not enough emphasis went into training the tendons. The tendons need to be trained as equally as a muscle. I am not sure of the correct methods, but the science guys ( Rhea and Ballou ) should know.

This is EXACTLY what is going on. I'm just thankful CNS had the guts to change considering how bad the injuries affected the program over the last 3 years, especially on defense. I bet it charred his butt to not have the players he wants on the field defensively for those 3 years.

Lets just hope that this does help. So far we just have preseason to work with. If we actually get through camp without a rash of injuries then that alone will be a big improvement!

I'm not sure what you mean by "had the guts to change." Cochran put in his departure papers to move over to UGA in order to have an on-field coaching position (which wasn't available at Alabama). Saban responded by finding Rhea and Ballou. Saban could have his pick of almost anyone in the S&C field, but his criteria led him to Rhea and Ballou.

He still had to change his approach and methods. Not always easy for a guy that is as structured and complete as Saban is. He finally adapted to a different style offense after being reluctant for a few years, so I would imagine that was more of the point of his comment. Being successful and changing while maintaining that success is a hard pill to swallow and very difficult for 99% out there.
