On Saturday, the Crimson Tide’s 1981 squad returns to Bryant-Denny Stadium to celebrate 40 years since winning the SEC Championship and solidifying Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant as the winningest coach in college football history. On November 28, at Birmingham’s Legion Field, this 1981 team defeated Auburn, 28-17, to give Coach Bryant his 315th win, breaking Amos Alonzo Stagg’s all-time winning record.
On this team, LB Thomas Boyd, DB Tommy Wilcox, and NG Warren Lyles were named to All-SEC and All-American squads. Earning All-SEC honors were DB Jeremiah Castille, T Bob Cayavec, DB Jim Bob Harris, TE Bart Krout, and DE Mike Pitts.
Please help us welcome home Coach Bryant’s “315 team” and the 1981 SEC Champions!
