The Big 12 is in trouble
The Big 12 has one appearance and no wins in the College Football Playoff era, the worst record among the Power 5 conferences. And this class isn't inciting much optimism for the future. The Big 12 ranks behind four divisions and six single teams in top-100 recruits.

The Big 12 only gets one top-100 recruit for every two teams, and all of those went to Texas, Oklahoma or Baylor.

The Big 12 has two major problems. The first is that the SEC has broken into Texassince Texas A&M left the Big 12, and Texas is the Big 12's most fertile recruiting ground. The other issue is that there's a giant talent void that's centered in the rest of Big 12 country.​

Mac brings up a point though. With Mack, those classes were almost finished in the fall. Charlie's coming in at the last minute. I wonder how many were borderline academic causalities?

Why would Texas fire Vaughn? Is it because they "heard" the NCAA had a thick file on Vaughn? If so, heard from whom?

Simple math leaves me with the conclusion this is odd.

Now, I'm left thinking this ... considering how many times we've seen the story change over the last few weeks/months, why on earth would a reasonable person believe what Bjork is putting out there? He's "shaded" the truth more than once.

Wednesday night, this report says Bjork says the investigation is over.

Thursday, we have McReady reporting this Memphian is still expecting to be questioned by Ole Miss.

Hughes said he expects to meet with Ole Miss’ legal representation sometime in the next couple of weeks to discuss allegations that he provided improper benefits for former Memphis East High School football players Herbert Moore and Bobby Billingsley.

I'm going to assume English is a second language for Bjork. To me, discussing allegations is the equivalent of an investigation that's ongoing.

(BTW, this article is worth the read. It'll remind you, quite vividly, of Adams and UT...all the way down to "I support kids going to other schools, not just Ole Miss/UT." Ironic that's it's Memphis, again?!?)

1. We've received no letter.
2. It's all other sports, not football.
3. Football is under Nutt, not Freeze.
4. Investigation is over.

Oh, BTW, the 247 mod for Ole Miss says the resignation of the asst. recruiting director has nothing to do with the NCAA investigation. How would he know that since the letter hasn't been released?

You notice that blurb about the numbers came from "Coach34." The thing that jumped out to me was 17K messages on that forum in three years, he makes the comment his "source" hasn't led him wrong, and through three pages I don't see him being called out by anyone.

By called out...I don't mean doubt, I mean "bullshit, you have called a number of things wrong."

Did I ever tell you my grandmother's brother's son was the HMFIC of National Association of Broadcasters for a long time and is an Ole Miss distinguished alumni. I don't recall every meeting him, might have when I was young. His dad (my great uncle) visited my grandmother a few times a year, got to know him really well.

Would be interesting to know what he knows if anything.

It's already known the Bears lied about the severity of this NOA - 14 of the 28 allegations involve football and 9 of those involve the current staff.
The academic fraud charges are still coming.
The NCAA supposedly has a burner phone Northern Miss gave to a croot from the 2016 class.
And the coup de grace, so far as I'm concerned - The NCAA still has an ongoing football only investigation into the current staff for post-2013 violations.

However most loyalties lie with your undergrad school and not where you did graduate work.

Yeah, but Samford (for the most part) means, they are Barners. Why Barners would defend Ole Miss ($$$$$$$) I have no idea.

I have a feeling I might get crucified for saying that, but look at Yearout and Traylor. JGY is the most senior Aubie lawyer there is. All those mofos went to Samford. Sprinkle in some Terry Bowden, and the Pat Sullivan thing, and I will stand by my words.

There are a lot of lawyers in Bham that deal with sports issues, from firms to agencies, and it makes sense...The SEC is based in Bham. Why wouldn't there be a concentration of firms where the SEC is located? I used to work in litigation support in Bham and was in and out of all of the major firms a lot. It was a real bitch to get most of those places to pay their bills. Eff lawyers.
