šŸˆ Ole Miss gets NCAA allegation letter...UPDATE: Ole Miss receives extension of 30 days

What happened to the claims by ppl in the media that "most of the violations happened before Freeze?" You go from that to nine out of the 13 are violations under Fereze...
They never got to read the letter, they were just going off the BS that was fed to them by the OM AD. Most of them were local honks and then the national media just took it on face value that the local honks had actually done something they are supposed to do, investigative journalism.

Or by Freeze himself. That's the main reason I posted these thoughts in this thread. In ESPN's latest article, they are quoting "Chris Low's sources." That would be source, and that would be Freeze.

I've seen more than a handful ask "why haven't they released the NOA if there's nothing there?" It's a pertinent question.

Now, I'm left thinking this ... considering how many times we've seen the story change over the last few weeks/months, why on earth would a reasonable person believe what Bjork is putting out there? He's "shaded" the truth more than once.

Bjork: NCAA says investigation into Ole Miss is over

________

On a side note: You guys remember all the talk from the Auburnites about Dre, and a few others, getting Chargers? The University has had a practice that they look into vehicles, titles, methods of payments, etc., for a long, long time. BUT, Ole Miss is just now...

Through it all, Bjork has remained steadfast in his defense of the athletic program he inherited only months before this all began in 2012. Bjork said Ole Miss has increased its compliance staff, started a vehicle monitoring program that traces the paperwork of athletes’ cars and developed a ā€œhigh-profile student-athlete programā€ to meet with those players on a regular basis.
One thing I've seen many ignore, or just fail to mention ...

As it's being reported there's no LOIC (Level 1 offense) included in the NOA. Now, if we assume that's the case, no one is mentioning the Level II equivalent, Failure to Monitor.

One more thought here...

With this coach from Texas being involved I want to know if his name was included in the NOA.

Here it is Friday, and according to what that MSU writer said (IF I recall this correctly) he was supposed to have that information (the NOA through the FOIA) released to him this past week, right?

Take this for what it's worth (which means, more than what guys like Chris Low are reporting Freeze has told him.)

Horns247 has learned that Texas and defensive backs coach Chris Vaughn are expected to part ways. It is unclear whether Vaughn will resign or be fired.

Vaughn, who was an assistant at Ole Miss six years ago, may have been implicated in part of the NCAA allegations recently levied against Ole Miss.

Many of the violations involve the staff of current Rebel head coach Hugh Freeze, but per an ESPN report, four of the violations are attached to former Ole Miss staffers under former Rebel head coach Houston Nutt.

Vaughn coached for the Rebels from 2008 to 2011 and served as the team’s defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator. Sources tell Horns247 the evidence against Vaughn ā€œwere damning."

The University and Vaughn are expected to reach a settlement of his contract, per a source.

Under his initial two-year contract, acquired by Horns247 through an Open Records request, with Texas, which went into effect on Jan. 21, 2014, Vaughn made an annual base salary of $245,000 a year. Vaughn's contract expired on Jan. 30, but his deal was expected to be picked up again, multiple sources tell Horns247.

Texas head coach Charlie Strong hired Vaughn as a member of his initial staff two years ago. In the time since Vaughn has proved a key recruiter for the Longhorns and helped develop the team’s young stable of defensive backs, a group that included two true freshman starters last season. Vaughn also served as Texas' special teams coordinator during the 2014 season.

I keep seeing posts around the interwebs about OM being in a repeat violator window. Can anyone confirm, or dispute that?

I don't know of any sanctions that have been passed down by the NCAA on Ole Miss.

I suspect people are confusing self-imposed with sanctioned. Ole Miss did self-impose a few things on their women's basketball program two, maybe three years ago. But, the issues revolving around those self-imposed penalties are in this current NOA, I believe.

Bill Clinton and his staff were masters at dealing with situations like this when he was president. They more or less stopped the bleeding by dumping out everything that they had, usually late on a Friday, often before a three day weekend. OM would be well advised to follow this strategy. Who knows when a 'Secret Witness' may emerge.

As a side note to all of this ...

There is a side of me that's also looking forward to how any different ways Neal McReady will spin this story. With his habitual way of spinning his opinions as fact, it's going to be another of his "oops, missed again" storylines.

Ole Miss Assistant Director of Recruiting Branden Wenzel has resigned according to footballscoop.com. He'd know, former staff member in Oxford

They sent him notes about the punishments they have handed out but did not send the NOA. They are still trying to dodge and weave.

You know, at first, when this all started coming out about them getting the letter, I was rooting for it to be embarrassing for them and maybe affect their recruiting but no major punishment because I hate the NCAA(mostly their ridiculous rules and their draconian way of handing out judgements). With the way they have been lying to everyone, dodging and being shady, I hope they get hammered.
