šŸˆ Ole Miss gets NCAA allegation letter...UPDATE: Ole Miss receives extension of 30 days

Adding one more note here and then off to other things for awhile ...

@psychojoe We talked about whether or not this was stemming from an investigation of ULL over on another forum. I truly believe it's linked though David Saunders but doesn't stop there. Ole Miss had their legal counsel involved with Saunders so the link there is undeniable.

ā€œThrough the course of those interviews, it became apparent to (Louisiana-Lafayette associate director of athletics for academics and compliance Jessica) Lager that the enforcement staff was testing information that suggested Saunders knew of, or had been involved in, NCAA rules violations of an academic nature while employed at Ole Miss,ā€ the response added.

The investigation at Louisiana-Lafayette ā€œarose out of a different investigation at another member institution,ā€ according to the Committee of Infractions’ report.

The Louisiana-Lafayette response to the NCAA’s allegations asserted that ā€œa pattern of violations … trailed Saunders toā€ the school and that ā€œit is evident that improper activity occurred in advance of (Louisiana-Lafayette) hiring.ā€

Ole Miss investigation results in ULL penalties

Here's what I suspect:

They were there already (Oxford) and when the Tunsil thing broke it just gave the NCAA another chapter to be written on this whole ordeal. I want to use the term ancillary here but I'm not sure that fits.

ULL's investigation gave the NCAA grounds to go to Oxford. The NCAA had already received complaints about Ole Miss at the time and Saunders employment in Oxford opened the door for them to expand their investigation. The bottom line is this has been ongoing for quite some time.

Now, not only are the eyes of the collegiate football world focused on Ole Miss, the NCAA has their "probably cause" to investigate even further.

I'm of the same opinion today with Ole Miss as I was when USC was still being investigated and people were saying "nothing will happen."

This ain't over. (I'm of the understanding there's a good chance more allegations are coming.)

Ole Miss fans: It's all about track and field, not football.

There is a dude behind the paywall that told everyone a couple of weeks ago that this was coming. That same fella says there is more on the way for OM. TIFWIW

@TerryP what I wrote is something I read on Facebook. I can't remember which beat writer did it, but it was the reply that I was really quoting here! I saw that every Old Miss fans was saying it was Alabama that turn Old Miss in. But you wouldn't know this because, you don't have a Facebook account. :D

A little patience, maybe? :D (I got caught up watching E3 of The Colony and it took me a minute or two to get back to the thread.) Oh, and wait! Shouldn't it be "whomever?" What's the dependent clause ... oh, I retired from my grammar police position!

I speak in slanguage online, no gramma or maths for me.

You can take facebook posts and put them here; just like videos.

There's an embed code within each post.
I know I've done it, the thing is, I read Facebook at the doctor's office on the phone. I just don't have the best of luck posting anything on tap-a-talk from my phone. When I read Bradon post it reminded me of the article I read. At the bottom always have comments about what was read. 98% were that it was Alabama turn Ole Miss in. :D

An observation:

All we really ask of those in the national media is some objectivity, right? Don't get me wrong. Some "homerism" is expected. As example, was anyone shocked by Barnhart's reaction in the SECCG in 2012 after the hit on Aaron? After all, he's been in ATL covering Georgia for how long now—two decades?

Then there's what I see as a lack of objectivity. A case where you look at a reaction and have to wonder why are they responding this way. As example, consider Chris Low of ESPN these last 24 hours. I've seen the phrase "toting their water" a lot. Is this a case of Low doing that for Freeze?

That may seem bland to you guys. On face value, he's just repeating what has been the Ole Miss line.

But, I am left wondering about this next tweet. IF Low is trying to maintain an objective view and report on this story, why is he tagging Freeze to let him know how he's reporting to the story? Is this merely a way he can keep the lines of communication open? And, if that is the case, doesn't that spell source = Freeze?

The upshot of all this is that the allegations regarding Tunsil and the ongoing investigation regarding their former coach, Saunders, opens up OM to what we described back in the early 2000s as a full scale rectal exam. If only a little f what I have heard over the last few years is true, the Rebs are in some deep doggy do.

It's never a surprise. The NCAA notifies a school when they are looking into possible violations. Schools don't broadcast these events because it could hurt recruiting, whether they are charged or not.

Just as a side note to this:

Back in 2013 when Ha-Ha was suspended for the loan he got from Corey Harris we knew of the suspension and the reason within a matter of days.

This year with Bo we understand why he was suspended, but we don't know the details as of yet. Why is there a difference in the two?

I can only speculate, but I wonder if it has to do with Bo's story falling under the "ongoing investigation" so there's no comment due to the NCAA's procedures. When UA releases its report on violations at the end of June, first of July, this summer that's one thing I'll be looking to find out—IF we don't know what's contained in the NOA at that point.
