| NEWS Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze seeks to avoid being deposed in Laremy Tunsil case

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze’s attorneys have requested restrictions to be placed on a possible deposition in a lawsuit filed against former offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil by his stepfather, Lindsey Miller, according to The Clarion Ledger’s Daniel Pauling.

Freeze’s representation has filed a motion for protective order that states there is no reason to depose Freeze as a part of this lawsuit. It also requests that if Freeze were to be deposed, any statement made by Freeze would be conducted through written questions, would involve only Freeze’s conversations with Tunsil about his stepfather, that only people involved in the case be in attendance and that the statement would be sealed pending court order, according to Pauling.

The lawsuit against Tunsil challenges the lineman’s claim that an altercation with Miller was in defense of his mother. The suit claims Tunsil’s account of the altercation was fabrication and that he told this account to Freeze and other Ole Miss coaches, according to Pauling. It also requests to depose offensive line coach Matt Luke and assistant athletic director of football operations John Miller.

Freeze apparently wants to keep this situation under wraps as best as he can. TMZ Sports reports that Freeze is concerned about NCAA investigators using any of his statements against him. Tunsil admitted to taking impermissible benefits from Ole Miss staff members after a draft day fiasco that included two social media hacks on Tunsil’s Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Ummm, his attorneys don't write the rules here. They act as if whatever they say is going to happen. If this doesn't scream guilt, what does? We'll only answer a small spectrum of questions that we know will not claim guilt, but that's all

hugh freeze has always seemed, to me, like the creepy guy that hangs out at parties hoping to find some drunk girl who can't say no due to being so drunk.

and now he's doing things he shouldn't have and is rushing to cover his ass so no one finds out just how creepy and how much of a low-life he is.

he definitely seems like he has something to hide.

Whatsamatter, Coach Freeze? Concerned someone might actually prove what everyone else has been suspecting? What, you just want to give name, rank and serial number? And that by mail? Shoulda gone to the barn...they'd have you covered.

Roll, National Champions, Roll!

Leave it to TMZ Sports to call a spade a spade ...

But Freeze doesn't want that to happen -- and has filed court docs to block the deposition -- in part because "at this time, the NCAA is considering allegations against the University and its football program, including allegations related to [Tunsil]."

He does not expand on the allegations.

Freeze says he's concerned that any information from the deposition could be accessed by NCAA investigators and possibly used against him ... and he doesn't believe that's fair.

If the judge DOES force Freeze to testify, he at least wants the transcripts sealed to prevent the NCAA from getting their hands on it.
