So when does the love affair stop with these guys. are they really the best team in the big-10? they seem to lose almost every big game they are in.

how much longer do they keep Tressel around while this is happening?

Yeah, Tressel needs to go!

Since becoming Ohio State's 22nd head football coach, his team has won a National Championship, achieving the first 14-0 season record in major college football since Penn went 15-0 in 1897.[1] He has an overall record of 75-16, including four Big Ten Conference championships, a 4-3 bowl record and a 6-1 record against arch-rival Michigan.

He should be run out of town.

Hahahaha.

Oh, you're serious?

i'm joking about him getting fired, yes. i am curious when their media love affair will be over. i just don't understand how they can continue to come back each year after losing major games outside their conference (not the easy games outside of conf, i'm talking about the tough games FL, LSU, Texas, USC, etc)...not the easy games like Louisiana Monroe :D

i certainly wouldn't be surprised if they continue to lose the big ones, if they let him go. for some strange reason, coaches get some praise from the school in the form of a raise or comments and the next thing you know, the coach is fired.

the national championship was 6 years ago; you need to add another loss to his record, it's now 17; are you seriously impressed that they win the big10 every year; yes, notre dame can even beat michigan these days

:D

As I recall he's also managed to coach his team to the two most recent NCGs. You don't fire a guy who has brought that to your program in such a short period of time.

As far winning the Big Ten, it's the only conference the NCAA will let Ohio State win and it does give you a BCS berth.

As far as beating your rival is concerned, the cow college doesn't seem to mind keeping a running count of Iron Bowl victories, regardless of our record against any other team.

I'm no OSU fan, but this "fire the coach" junk is out of control.

They have been criticized by some and loved by others. Wait until the end of the year when they are 11-1, I imagine the media will be pushing for a rematch with Beanie healthy.

Exactly, weezybaby, you hit it on the head. If there is an undefeated SEC team, maybe they will beat out an 11-1 Ohio State. Why?

Because OSU is stacked with talent and chock full of seniors, haven't you heard?

An undefeated SEC team will have to really have been impressive in all of their victories and be dominant above and beyond just winning every game in order to beat out an 11-1 Ohio State.

The only thing that could even vaguely keep an 11-1 Ohio State out of the big game is their poor performance in the last two. If not for that, I would say an 11-1 Ohio State would be an automatic lock all the way.

let's hope it doesn't come down to this...i'm tired of watching them get out played.

first off i skipped everything you guys said because we are talking about one of the few coaches that has his head on straight.

Lets look at this program. Even though they lose at the National Championship stage they still kick butt. What if we went to the NC game (but lost) we would fire our coach. We would give him a couple more million a year.

Its just not practical. He gives that program national attention every year because he works his butt off for it. OK, he doesn't win the big game. But he manages to rock the conference and play tough football!

p.s. USC is an NFL program! They are good!!!

Look at everything he has done for that program. He is a great coach!!! I hate them but i know a good coach when i see one!
And can you really hate on a coach that wears a vest?

Yes! But seriously, I don't think anyone here really thinks he deserves to be fired. But you do have to wonder when the OSU faithful will get tired of failing to show up at the big game. The same way with Stoops at Oklahoma. Contrary to popular belief, BAMA fans aren't the only ones with unreal expectations every year. At some point these guys are going to want more than a 10 win season/blowout in bowl game. Is it right? Heck nah, it ridiculous. But at some point they are going to want someone to win that big game. Remember, if you're not first, you'r last.

my point wasn't that he should be fired. it was about media darlings and how they get in the polls high and finish poor. exceptions are there and they haven't lived up to the hype for a many years. they can't be great if they can't finish in my opinion.

i don't care that they win the bigten every year, nor do I care if they win against michigan and the other "elite" teams in the bigten. they can't finish.

Ohio State was almost beaten by Ohio. Ohio! They were blown away by USC.

This week OSU gets to play Trojans again. Troy is 2-0 and hung 65 points on Alcorn State on Saturday. Yeah, it was Alcorn State, but they were up 52-0 at half and it could have been worse.

If, by some miracle, Troy beats Ohio State this week - that would put some serious doubt on the calibre of USCW's victory on Saturday. IMHO, its just too early to go calling USCW the best team ever as some in the media are doing. They may well be, but I need to see more solid proof.

Well, let me chime in on this!!!

I don't understand the media hype as well, but I think this goes back to the days of Woody Hayes.

Ohio State has always been the talk of the talking heads up north.

However, it now appears that even with their domination in recruiting, there is still a ton of parity nation-wide.

The Big Ten or Big Eleven is not the dominate conference that the SEC is.

That was proven the last 2 years that Ohio State has faced an SEC foe in the BCS Championship game. For that matter, it has happened the past 9-10 times Tressel has faced an SEC team.

What's his record again? 0-9 or 0-10???

Then to add insult to injury, they are still ranked in the top 15 after being whipped by USC.

Any other team lose by almost 5 TDs, they would drop out of the polls, but not the media darlings.

Michigan lost to FCS 3-time champ App. St. and they drop to #25, but not OSU.

It is ridiculous, if you ask me!!!

As someone put it on ESPN radio, Ohio State is the neighborhood bully who can whip every kid on his block. The problem occurs when he steps outside his block.
