🏈 Of the 2008 Recruiting Class

What do you mean we ONLY have the 3 guys? Any of our top 3 RB's could start full time if they wanted to. Those 3 will all split the playing time next season, and behind them we have Demetrius Goode, Jeramie Griffin, and Ivan Matchett backing them up.

Read his post again...

We only have the guy 3 years...not only 3 guys

Yeah I see that now. I still don't see him beating out UpChurch for the job... And I REALLY Don't see us using more than 3 running backs in our starting rotation...

Terry you might be able to shed some light on our little debate here. What do you think will happen?

He won't redshirt. He's too good to redshirt. He's more of an overall back right now than Ingram. (better in passing situation IE: catching the ball out of the backfield)

So you think he'll be our 2nd RB in the rotation next season?

I can't say we technically are going to have a rotation/depth chart at RB next year.

It's going to be a situational rotation eventually...playing as many as 4 backs a game. May start with one guy one game, start with another the next.

Bottom line...if we lined up every back we have and made them all freshman, Trent would be the most gifted guy of the bunch. He's the best RB I've seen come to Bama in a long, long, LONG time.

IF we had a choice right now between taking Shaun Alexander and Trent Richardson, Shaun wouldn't be in Crimson.

Terry,
Im assuming everyone knows what is going on with this guy except me but I noticed Jerrel Harris wasnt on there. Did he see playing this time this year or is there something else going on with him? Sorry in advance I must have had some of that water. :D

He's played in the last 6-7 games in a row. I think he's only missed 4 games this season.

Well ok then

Hahaha. It's all a matter of opinion and yours is indeed justified. It's hard to accept an incoming player can pass up these guys we've grown to love. And truth be told, none of the backs we have have really shown us a reason to move them down the depth chart. Trent is just a very special athlete that will possibly be the hardest worker on the team from day 1... and as Terry mentioned, he will be the most complete back. He's also a good pass blocker and has great hands.

I also think Ingram is going to get better and better. He is one of the smartest kids on the team and I'm confident in saying he will step up as a leader of the team when he is an upperclassmen. If you never got a chance to watch his commitment presser, I'd suggest trying to find it. Very impressive fella.

Well okay then! I promise I actually watched the games, I guess he just didn't get a lot of media attention with newcomer standouts like Cody and Jones. Thanks

Game participation is just another one of those stats I keep up with...first, to see who loses their shirts, second, to see how they do when they are in the game.

Jerrell has seen mostly special teams work.

I'll add this. The one player that really hasn't been mentioned a lot but has impressed me greatly every time he's stepped foot on the field is Courtney Upshaw. I've seen him slide through blocks so easily on kick duty I can't wait 'til he works himself in the rotation on defense.

I love me some Courtney Upshaw. One of my favorite up and comers. He was one of best coverage guys on special teams and showed he's capable of being a great pass rusher when given the chance. As he gets a better understanding of the defense and continues to bulk up, I think he'll be one of the best defensive players we'll have.

Does anyone new step in and take Reamer's job from him?

It's possible. Jerrell Harris has began to grow into the prospect we all hoped he'd be and is beginning to impress the staff. Reamer is a guy that can rotate through multiple positions though and has the always important game time experience. Harris will put up a fight though. Should be an interesting spot to watch through Spring.
