So I am the first to acknowledge that our talent level and experience level is way down this year from years past and maybe that is what it is right now.
It's not just the 3 pass calls in a row near the goal lone it is the overall calling of plays that I don't like. The overall offense game calling is what doesn't feel right to me.. it just feels disjointed. Some of the calls I really didn't like this past week werent entirely his fault because there were times even if I didn't like the call that we had a chance and the receiver dropped the ball. I didn't like the sideline deep ball to Metchie on 2 and 6 because it stalled out the drive. It went right thru Metchie's hands and he absolutely should have had it but I still don't like that call when we are running the ball for 6 yards a carry and they are blitzing every down. Bryce is still struggling to throw the deeper ball with any consistency.. and that was part of the Aggie's game plan. I didn't like the three times we had to settle for field goals inside the 10 and of course the interception in the endzone. The flow of the offense has just seemed off with O'brien.
Marone, I just wonder what is going on with the players here. Anyone can see that Owens can't play right tackle. They attacked him all night and beat him all night.. so has every other team so far. Do we really not have anyone else on the team who can do better than this? If so, either we have missed horribly on the last 4 "5 star" tackles that we have recruited or he has done a poor job of getting them ready to play. We seem unprepared and unmotivated every week.
I think losing coaches every year is harder on us than losing players and this year going to old pro coaches seems to have been a mistake. Now I know these guys didn't go to sleep on Friday night and all their football knowledge leaked out onto their pillow.. they have been coaching along time.. I just don't know if the fit is right for them in college... or at least at Alabama.
I know everyone is mad at Golding and I get it but I am even more displeased with the offensive side of the ball
