🏈 Now we have NBA teams deciding to boycott the season. Okay. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I don’t care what color of skin a person has but these professional athletes have a job! If they don’t want to do that job, go and work In a convenience store.

In basic terms, this is how the market works...

If your skills are more valuable, you get more leeway. (Also noted that protests/boycotts/delays happening in the NHL & MLB as well)

If the players didn't produce income (A LOT) they would be let go.

But they do. Before, during, and after protesting. Less than before, but still produce a lot of income.

If the convenience store clerk produced a lot of income for his store before, during, and after his protest... He would likely get the same treatment. Not sure his/her skill set is quite as valued though. Hence the difference in treatment... It's market based, not racial.

O so many i wanted to walk out of....most boring shit....

Try sitting in a faculty meeting where none of the stuff concerns you or your classes and yet, you have that 1 teacher that wants to ask "fifty-eleven" questions!!!! I start thinking, "does my phone battery have enough charge? Is today going to be the day I snap and go postal?"

If it was my meeting....i just ignored and closed meeting...
But my boss....o know..another F'ing hour listening to nothing that meant nothin to nobody...

My last working year...i just got up and left....F'em... i heard about later...claimed i had something else scheduled....like a cold budlight

That's about to be put to the test BIG TIME! Cord cutters, political views, and simple interest is about to shift these "professions" in my mind.

I still can't figure out where Major League Baseball makes the money to pay a guy $400M over ten years, on top of the other guys on the roster. Stadiums are a quarter full, participation in youth is down, so there has to be something a miss. I am a baseball guy, so even being generous I cannot figure how they survive these days. It ain't tv or jersey sales either.

As @TerryP helped me realize in regards to a lot of the scheduling issues.... TV $!

And you're right - If these leagues' margins get too thin, or there is a potential for losing $, we could see some shifts. But I think these TV contracts are so enormous that as long as they're broadcasting top tier talent, people love to watch.

Being in PE, nothing in these meetings hardly ever pertains to me. It drives me nuts!!! Our "professional development" days are killers as well. 5-6 solid hours of listening to someone read the freaking powerpoint to me, while I'm holding the damn handout!!!! I told my principal before we came back, "you know that this is it for me, right? About these PD days. I'm as professionally developed as I'm going to get!! If it doesn't pertain to me, I ain't coming! Same for faculty meetings! If you have something that includes me, fine. Don't expect me to be all smiles!!" She laughed. I didn't!!

Yes we do!! After spending my first 5.5 years in a Hs setting, I have spent the last 21 and this year will make 22 in lower elementary education. Don't get me wrong, I love it, BUT I am just tired of all of the drama. People like to think that it is the kids getting worse, but it isn't. It's the parents and this "participation trophy" generation that we have today. Add to it, all those years in a gym have taken a toll on my hearing. I experience a constant ringing in my ears 24/7.

One of saddest things is the lack of youth baseball these days....

Growing up....we had little leagues teams....and wach of those teams had a B team... to develop talent....as the kids grew into the pony league...

When i moved to TN in 89.... i coached little league.... had full rosters.......-13-15 on each team...no girls ( they played softball)...had 6 teams in our town...couple surrounding towns each fielded a team or 2....( all a very rural area)

Grandson played.... all the area together could only field 4 teams...10-12 kids per team..... some girls...half games forfeited becuse wasn’t enough showed up to play.. this was mid- late 2000 years

Today...no little leagues in community....zero..even with girls wanting to play...
Baseball fields vacant...

Sad..sad

Ms50+ is on ur bandwagon...she loved the kids....middle school reading/math/english.... they still see her and give her a big hug....but she hated the drama of politics ( administrators..principal...school boards) and "parents" who thought their
Ittle sweetie was never wrong.... and never seemed to have backing from bosses..

You will be happily retired soon...and will wonder...how did I put up with all that shit!

Just got a notice about the NBA "set to resume play on Saturday." It seems as that the commissioner has "given" again to the players. 3 initiatives are to be put into place.
1) League and players will "immediately establish a social justice coalition focused on increasing access to voting, promoting civic engagement and advocating for meaningful police and criminal justice reform.
2) team "governors/ owners" must work with local election officials in cities where the own or manages arena property to convert those facilities into an election facility for the 2020 general election "to allow for a safe in person voting option for communities vulnerable to COVID. Team governors must work with local officials to find another "election-related use" for the facility, including voter registration and ballot receiving boards, if the deadline to set up voting in the arena has passed.
3) the league and players will work with broadcast partners to "create and include advertising spots" in every remaining playoff game that will be dedicated to "promoting greater civic engagement in national and local elections and raising awareness around voter access and opportunity".

Commissioner and owners keep on giving!!!!
