Independents should have to "play some type of 'play-in' game" to get invited. not having the 13th game is a bit of a shame.
But, (yes, I remember Bama winning NC's without playing in the SEC CG) there has to be some way to make the playing field more level for these teams or make the criteria much harsher for strength of schedule/strength of conference something like this. or my favorite, ND not allowed to embarass the committee again; therefore, they are eliminated from participation

Notre Dame will never join a conference. Not that they were inclined to anyway, but when they take a look at what joining the Big 12 did to West Virginia and what joining the PAC 12 did to Utah, they will REALLY avoid it like the plague. That is just two examples of teams that had it pretty sweet and then fucked it all up when they got into a Power 5.

I hate ND as much as the next person but it is a slippery slope when you start excluding teams based on criteria that was never in the CFP language.

Many folks want to exclude any team that doesn't win their conference. I don't agree with that either

I did not have a problem with 12-0 ND being in this year. I personally think folks who wanted a 2 loss Georgia in were smoking what they growing

Be realistic there would be a collective southern meltdown if someone suggested a 2 loss ACC, PAC12, Big12 or B1G team be included
