but did anyone catch on The Zone on 33/40 about the tweet that Sims sent out following the Penn State game? Before I paraphrase it, I know that the media more often than not tries to stir the pot and read between the lines when a kid posts something.

The comment was along the lines that " I don't even feel like going out. I have too much on my mind."

The guys were reading it as Phillip is already considering a transfer. I read it and, my thoughts were that he was disappointed that he didn't get in til garbage time.

I saw that as well. If there is a lesson here, it is that young athletes llike Sims need to be very careful what they tweet. The talking heads are eager to leap to conclusions. If leaping to conclusions were an olympic sport "The Zone" would have several medal contenders.

I can understand why he was disappointed. All his life he has been "the guy" with no serious challenge to it. I hope his comment about things on his mind related to perhaps raising his level a bit more. Dealing with disappointment is one of the tough things about growing up.

I agree. Hopefully there is nothing too it....but from day one, I have felt that Sims would transfer if he did not get the starting position.

Wow I'm disappointed more in some of ur comments (he needs to grow up, perform and it wont happen, etc.) than Sims comments. first off, u have no idea what that tweet meant...hes a 19 year old kid in college. it could mean anything...

Fair enough but why tweet something so cryptic? He knows what people will assume.

I can't stand "the zone" . Poor talking head dribble on there.

As mentioned he's a kid in college. It could mean anything. Let's let it play out on its own. Twitter is a short type/post social site. By nature most thing could be passed off as cryptic on there.

Again, hes a 19 year old kid... Sometimes they dont think about stuff like that. Im fairly confident the kid is frustrated right now, who wouldn't be? But regardless we don't KNOW that's what he was talking about if he was, so? If he's thinking about leaving, either a) Coach Saban will talk him out of it or b) he'll leave. Nothing we can do about it. People tweeting harsh stuff at him definitely doesnt help. And further more, him being frustrated and "thinking" doesn't constitute he's leaving. Plenty of players have said they were very much on the verge of leaving but decided against it and for the better (Javier Arenas comes to mind).

Cryptic indeed.

My take was that we were seeing a young man about to redouble his efforts. A young man disappointed in himself that he had not yet grown into the challenge. THAT is the attitude that a Coach Saban player takes. More than just a player, a kid who Coach Saban went to Virginia to get to be the leader of this team.

For those that think he was throwing a tantrum or a pity party, please post anything you know or have found about Phillip that would hint that this could even faintly be part of his being. ANYTHING -- and that's my challenge to all takers. If I'm wrong, I'm just as wrong as Coach Saban...so show us what we've missed. Until than, you are dogging an Alabama player without cause, and that needs to stop.

I took it as he didn't want to go out.... That he had a lot on his mind, such as "What do I need to do in order to get more playing time?" I have one at Alabama, and I challenge anyone to figure out what he and the other 19 year-olds are thinking. Especially, some crap that was written in a text or tweet or whatever. Good luck, as teenagers do not think like adults. The football uniform does not make them adults. At the end of the day, they are kids, playing a game.
