| MBB/WBB No. 1/1 Auburn Topples Alabama Tuesday Night, 100-81

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama will play the second of its current stretch of three consecutive top-5 ranked opponents when it travels to Auburn, Ala., to take on the No. 1/T1 Auburn Tigers Tuesday night at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN. It marks the second meeting this year between the rivals as the Tide fell to then-No. 4/4 Auburn, 81-77, Jan. 11 in Tuscaloosa.

This will be the 12th time Alabama takes on the nation's No. 1 team according to the Associated Press, holding a 4-7 record in those contests. The last time the Crimson Tide defeated the nation's top-ranked team came in a 70-67 win over Stanford in the second round of the 2004 NCAA Tournament (3/20/04). Alabama's last regular season victory over a No. 1 team came on Jan. 8, 1994 in a 66-64 home victory over Arkansas. Finally, the Tide's only road win over a No. 1 team in program history came at UCLA on Jan. 28, 1982.

Coming off an 87-78 victory over then-No. 4 Baylor last Saturday afternoon in the Big 12/SEC Challenge, Alabama improved to 3-0 against teams that played in last year's NCAA Final Four. The Tide also defeated then-No. 3 Gonzaga (91-82 in Seattle) and then-No. 14 Houston (83-82 in Tuscaloosa.

It’s amazing how different Bama can look game to game. Though, this time it’s not because they’re playing down to the competition. One thing’s for sure, you won’t win many games shooting 28% from the floor.

Oats has no clue. Yeah I am putting this on him. Tired of blaming the players. They certainly have some part of it but the head guy is getting made to look like a high school coach. giving up 50 points in one half. Unacceptable.

He’s sticking with the offense of playing with 4 guards and no big men in the middle and hoping the 3’s fall. This offense is not going to work consistently in big time BB.

We're just not getting good looks. Auburn is not only talented, but damn if they aren't a disciplined team. Their guards are quick, and if you try to help up, they just throw it up to Jabari or Kessler for an alley oop. No one outside of Gary has quick enough feet for a slip screen and immediate turn around to the basket like that.

Our off ball defending is being exposed (JD for example). When you throw Rojas - a guy who runs like he has two prosthetic legs - it's not going to go well.

Finally the officials are banging us hard. It's pretty blatant that they're feeding off the atmosphere. But when you can't stay in front of their guards, more calls are expected.

Still liking our fight in this game. Could have easily folded, but guys are still giving effort.

What big men do we have, outside of Bediako? We don't have an Alex Flannigan or Kessler? Our team has been dangerous due to our guard depth alone. No one outside of JQ has good enough handles to get to the rim consistently. Keon and Shack are our second best dribblers, but they're not consistently beating their man off the dribble. This Auburn team has at least five guys who not only have the ability to break down the defense, but finish at the rim.
