I only watched some of the highlights this evening, but it looks like we are going to be OK, and even at the OL position.
What did we learn? Nothing we didn't already know. Randolph isn't a starting left tackle and George isn't a starting guard (although he looks good in run blocking, just not fleet footed enough for passing downs.)
My area of concern on the line is the tight end. I know I've used OJ Howard as a comparison and I still think it fits with Niblack. Like Howard, he's a good receiver. And I fear, like Howard, when he's on the field defenses will realize it's a passing down—so far I don't see him as the blocker needed.
It's a scrimmage so tempering critique is important. That said, I think they'll move Randolph back to where he played last season. Ouzts is what I'll call #2 and he hasn't shown he's the receiver for the TE position. There's two guys who can block well enough but lack the other part of the equation, ya know?
In my view the starting five is going to end up like I suspected it would before spring ball started.
Injuries just need to stay the Hell away from Tuscaloosa!!!
Good lord if we see injuries hit the tight end group. They'll need help. On the bright side they made it through spring camp without any serious injuries.
WRs will be fine with Burton, Brooks, Holden, Earle, Leary, and a crop of freshmen like Law and Anderson in the wings
Unless there's a huge curve ball thrown Harrell is in Tuscaloosa.
Brooks, Holden, and Earle. There's still no consistency there. I thought Holden looked better while Earle continues to struggle.
Law looks like he's right on the brink of being ready for SEC play.
