auburn is already making a lot of enemies around the league off the field these days... now I guess they have decided to do it on the field as well. They might as well just embrace it and quit trying to portray being a babyface. It worked for Miami in the late 80's. Sorta.

Does the SEC EVER suspend players for on the field issues? In all seriousness, I've seen other converences do it (although rarely), but how often to you have to hear complaints from differnt schools on the same player before you say or do something?

I'll answer my own question for a change and pose another. From the NCAA rule book:

Initiating Contact/Targeting an Opponent<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>
ARTICLE 3. a. No player shall initiate contact and target an opponent with<o></o>
the crown (top) of his helmet. When in question, it is a foul.<o></o>

So my question is this:

At what point does the referee finally decide it's flagrant? What exactly does it take? A 3rd or 4th personal foul? How many teams have to complain before the ref is told to watch for certain things?

This is really a sad statement becuase Fairley is a monster of a player. He's dimenishing his accomplishments and he will pay for it at the next level. Just ask Haynesworth.

Usually, I wouldn't contribute to a thread bad-mouthing a student-athlete, but we all know that Auburn's players aren't any more "students" than I am turtle. These guys are paid to play, and sometimes they get a Sociology degree.

I HOPE he tries any of that crap in T-Town. Arbin has not played in a hostile environment all year. Unless you consider Ms State and Kentucky as hostile. I hope that he gets his punk ass chop-blocked all night with fingers in his eyes. He can pull that sh*! against Ga, but it won't fly against the Tide. Arbin should be proud of their "team" and all that they accomplish this year. I especially like Troopah coming onto the field during a fight and giving fairley "5" after he acted like a thug. I'm not posting this because I'm expecting anything will happen, becasue nothing will... but there is a rule in place where something could. Instances such as Farily's actions in the UGA game, IMO, are why this rule was instituted in the first place. So that said...

Flagrant Personal Fouls (Rule 9-6). For 2009-10 the rules committee has added a new section that calls for conferences in the days following a game to review certain particularly dangerous plays. This new rule says that if a player is ejected for any flagrant personal foul the conference must review the game video for possible further action. In addition, if the officials call fouls for targeting defenseless players or using the crown of the helmet and the player is not ejected, the rules mandate a conference review. If the review by the conference reveals actions that should have resulted in a personal foul but were not called, the conference may impose sanctions.

yeah i doubt any more will come of this. but this rule does sound like they should be looking at it further as we speak. im sure richt and saban are letting the sec know how they feel about it.
