It isn't often that "news" comes out on the call in show, but tonight Saban just talked about TE Colin Peek. Those that read this board a lot probably know that Saban think very highly of this kids ability. Well, some good news... he will be eligible to play in the bowl game. Looks like we won't have to wait until next fall to see him suit up after all! :)

Nice! :D

That's awesome. I was wondering though, is there a place to catch the call in show if you missed it? I was going to listen to it but something came up.

Would this not result in him having to include this season as one of his four available years of eligibility?

Would you want to play him for just one game - albeit what could turn out to be a pretty damn important 'one game' to lose an entire year? Especially given we 1) have two Seniors performing very well and a true Freshman who has performed quite well at this very position, 2) it is a a position where we appear to be very thin next year (and would be thinner if Peek burns his last year of eligibility in the bowl game), and 3) we are not recruiting anyone at that thin position for the next season.

Okay, I understand all the above paragraph and worries become moot if somehow his playing this year does not burn a year - but I just do not understand how it could be anything but.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and all.

That is a great inquiry, alagator. Perhaps that whatever bowl game 'Bama participates in will be in the new year has something to do with it.

You know, whichever bowl game being during the '09 calendar year may be a loophole.

I am totally guessing, btw. I am sure someone more up on that kind of stuff will tell us what is going on.

Colin Peek doesn't have four years of eligibility though, I am certain of that. You know, he is a transfer from GT.

Since the semester is over, he can play in the bowl game and not lose his eligibility. He'll just be playing 1 game as a junior... then come back next year and play his final season as a senior.
