šŸˆ GAME THREAD New Years Day bowl games--

Worley tells it like it is. Also remarks that Coach Smart should know better as he has roots in a program that knows how to do it.

I like almost all of what he said... but I have to disagree with the sitting out of the bowl game. When you have millions at stake, it's up to you to decide to play or not. Either one is fine by me. It's not like the University is going to compensate your for lost millions if you get hurt and drop outta the first round draft. It's just way too much to risk unless it's YOUR decision to do so... there should be no other expectations... just saying.

I get what you're saying here. It falls in line with my beliefs as well: what business is it of mine what someone else does with their life/career.

In spite of that, I can't escape thinking they quit on their team. I can't escape what Ricky suggests, they're quitting on their teammates as well.

What really gets me is how often I see "don't take the risk." Risk calculations, right? We're sitting at roughly forty bowl games right now. If these teams didn't substitute at all and only played their first 22 we're looking at 880 players. We seen a guy mentioned here whose draft stock fell due to injury. On these numbers we're looking at a .001% chance a guy gets a injury in the game that would hurt his future. Hell, if ten were hurt this bowl season now we're up to a whopping .01%. That's a 99% chance these guys can play and do so without an injury that will have bearing on their future career. The numbers just don't add up to equate, "there's a good chance I'll be hurt." There isn't.

My stance is it’s ā€œtheirā€ choice to make. Some will play, some won’t. Are they letting down the team... that’s up to the team to decide.

Here is the reality... the bowl game means ā€œNothingā€ anymore or at most, very little.

Here is the way I look at non-playoff bowl games where a starter sits out. It’s a chance to get younger talent that will be playing next year quality reps. It can actually ā€œhelpā€ develop those kids and can be a positive moving forward.

In the end, it’s up to each kid to decide... and some ex-player that played in a different era shouldn’t be calling them out for that decision. UGa didn’t lose that game due to one safety sitting out. Heck, LSU was missing 8-10 and still played well and won a tough game.
