  • WR Robert Foster has gone from 8 to 1.
  • QB Blake Barnett snatches up 8, his high school number.
  • WR Cam Sims has adds a digit from 7 to 17.
  • DB Deionte Thompson will wear 14.
  • Keaton Anderson moves to a more linebackerish number of 31 from 18.

Emotionally speaking, some of those numbers are coveted and cherished like a personal name. Hope everyone got what they wanted. Took a couple of years but Henry finally got his #2.

I feel the same way. I had to wait two years in high school to get my #3, wore #2 until then. At the first opportunity I had, the senior hadn't even finished playing his last game for like ten minutes when I confirmed with my coach about my number change. Hope my son will wear #3, but I obviously respect which ever number he chooses, because I know what it meant for me. I heard the other week Jalen Ramsey offered over $30,000 for the #23.

Our high school coach asked a couple of us to change our number before a rival game to confuse the defense a little more. We just looked at each other shaking our head. Didn't take long for coach to know that wasn't happening. I would guess in the NFL personal marketability is another reason the numbers stick and players are so adamant.
