Speaking of bans, I got banned back around 2008 or 2009 from a site that is no longer around. If I am at fault, I will admit it. But, in this case,I had no earthly idea what I did to deserve the boot. So, I figured maybe I just posted something that came off wrong. In the notification I received, I was told that it was a level one banning. Meaning that it would be a temporary suspension of one month. So, I figured that whatever I had done must not have been too bad. But, when that month was up, I still couldn't get back into my account. So, I e-mailed a mod and was told that during my one month suspension, the decision had been made to convert the temporary suspension to a permanent ban.
The mod and I e-mailed back and forth and I even pointed out the site's policy regarding infractions and suspensions. The mod finally told me that, one, they reserved the right to issue a permanent ban at any time, and that while a permanent ban was usually issued only after a poster had been suspended twice, sometimes they found it necessary to convert a suspension to a ban, (as they had done with me) and two, the issue was closed. So, that was that, and to this day, I still don't know what caused it. Fortunately, it remains the only time I have ever gotten a permanent ban.
