🏈 Navy vs. Army

The Army -Navy game used to be a great game to watch. Its not even worth it any more. The twelve years prior to the Navy streak the series was 8-4 Army. Its about to be a 13 win streak so go the previous 13 years and the game was 8-5 Army and the series was 49-46-7 in the series to the favor of Army.

Hopefully some day it will be competitive and interesting again.

Not this year .. Make it a baker's dozen for Navy.

While in the Marines, I was a member of the Silent Drill Platoon. We performed ceremonies at both academies each year. We did a halftime show at an Army game in the mid-80s in about eight inches of snow. West Point is a beautiful place. And one thing that stuck in my mind at each academy was those boys and girls eat WELL!

We made the trip to Happy Valley in 2011 (?) when we played Penn State and took another week tour around that area before heading home. We stopped by the Naval Academy and really enjoyed the tour. Beautiful buildings, naval history and Annapolis is a very nice place to visit. Lots of Mom and Pop type stores to visit. If you're ever in the area, it's worth stopping by.

Attending a game at West Point and Annapolis is on my bucket list. Those young men and women get full credit for student athlete. The code of duty, honor and country is taken serious at these two institutions.

I was offered by Army to play QB. I still scratch my head about that one! I was a PURE drop back passer, no running in this boys game, unless I was running for my life! Army ran the Wishbone and I wanted no part of the 5 year committment after my playing days concluded. My grandfather is retired Navy and it always chapped his tail that Army recruited me and Navy didn't. He would always tell me that he had some contacts in Annapolis and that he could get me in there. I've always rooted for Navy!
