| MBB/WBB Nate Oats Interview on Gameday

This team has a mental and physical toughness on the level that we haven't yet seen under Oats (he's had individual players have it in the past, but never the entire squad like it is now). Big Cliff rolling his ankle and coming back in last night was a good example. They also don't really allow poor play in spurts on their own behalf to snowball nearly as much as in year's past. I think that is a by-product of the toughness but also the senior leadership provided by some of the guys.

Every time he gets interviewed, he mentions that we're not there yet defensively. And you can see it in spurts throughout the game. But they're taking huge strides and playing a lot tougher on off-ball D and clogging lanes.

The best part is, I don't think we've seen the best of Oats yet. I still think he'll assemble a team that will be downright scary.

I simply cannot overstate how much this matters. Also, these seniors have played against championship level teams. UCONN, prime example. They know what kind of beasts they must strive to be to have a chance.

It's so damn refreshing to see.
