Brian Scott to run the #44 for RPM? was sent some images of the #44 Twisted Tea Ford. No name above the door. Could Richard Petty Motorsports be switching from the #9 to the #44 for new driver Brian Scott in 2016? If so, what happens to the #9? does Hendrick use it and re-number the #24 Chevy for Chase Elliott? Chase's father, Bill Elliott, ran the #9 for many years. Chase ran the #9 in the XFINITY Series as well as other series in the past.

I doubt he would, but if Chase switches to the #9, what happens to the #24. Change Jr to #24?

Seriously I do think it would be cool to see Chase in the #9.

I believe so. It's either 1997 or 1999 but looking at other 1997 pictures , victory lane looks different. So yeah, 1999, which is when he held off Dale Sr.

I remember being nervous as hell watching the end of that race. I just knew Sr was gonna school him or wreck him. I couldn't believe Jeff held him off.

Stewart's last shot at winning the 500 is gone. His career is seemingly going to end on all bad notes.

Man that sucks for Smoke. Would be cool to see Jeff drive his car, but with his tv deal I don't see it happening. I would put Elliott Sadler in it. He's driving for JR in Xfinity series, so the chevy to chevy makes sense and he's pretty good at plate tracks.

With Stewart being out, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will be eligible for the Sprint Unlimited. Casey Mears also gets in since Gordon is retired and the points don't transfer to Chase Elliot.

A lot of reports of Brian Vickers filling in for Smoke for Daytona. PC on Friday so I guess we'll see. If true, gotta love it for Vickers to have a shot to prove himself after a rough stretch.

Thoughts on the new charter system? Seems like another NASCAR gimmick to me, but coming from an organization run by Brian France, I'm not surprised.

I can see where the stability peace for owners and sponsors would be a big plus, but I don't think the average fan will see much a change. I like the champions provisional is gone. Never liked that rule.
