I just listened to this, and I have to say I'm not liking the decision to go with the Alabama to Apple Allegory.
I was totally expecting one of those kids to come up with Coke and Pepsi for the respective schools. Regardless, I think the question went unanswered by the students and you could tell he was a tad frustrated when it was over. I think it's all relative. Whether Auburn did it right or wrong all depends on one's code of ethics (this is, of course, assuming that the alleged pay-for-play scandal comes to roost). He sort of answered that on his own, but also posed the question as to whether or not Chizik had a formula. EVERY COMPETENT HEAD COLLEGE FOOTBALL COACH HAS SOME SORT OF FORMULA. Whether he only loosely based it on the SOP he had in place at Iowa State, I'm not sure, but I know that he had some sort of plan. Be it the limo, or Big Cat weekend, whatever.
Truth be told, I'm shocked he didn't talk about Malzahn more. Malzahn kept that team afloat in 09 (without him, Chizik's first team would have been no different than Tuberville's final team), and it would seem to me if anyone has a real formula, it's him. That formula is called the VERY unusual spread offense, and it is the thing that will keep Auburn in competition for as long as they can pay their mad scientist more than their quarterback.
