🏈 Muschamp to USCe

I'm glad I won't have to watch that anger explosion every year during the IB. Good luck SC. He may be a good coach, but his mannerisms reek of a volcano about to erupt, badly.

Roll Tide! Beat everybody!

Can we agree that the word "good" needs to be replaced by "highly ranked?"

We've been watching Malzahn recruits for over five years now. Who can you point to and say, "highly ranked that lived up to their potential?"

I think you're missing my point - They are good recruits regardless of what happens when they get there. Many of Auburn's commits are guys would take as well.

Also - for planomateo, who cares if Will Muschamp takes every single defensive body in the building? The defense wasn't any good. He should be thanking Muschamp for taking them IMO

As an Alabama fan, I care. I'm enjoying the slow train wreck that Malzahn has created...much like I'm enjoying the one at Texas A&M. Sure the defense might suck, but when you have the entire defensive side of the coaching staff leaving, it indicates something bigger than "he should be thanking Muschamp for taking them"...

I'm thinking the aubrun train wreck is on a faster schedule than, say, A&M and LSU. Of those three, which head coach leaves first?

Fair enough... :rtrsign:

but when you have the entire defensive side of the coaching staff leaving,
Rodney Garner is still on the defensive staff: a guy I'd love to see get the DC job!

I'm not missing your point as much as I am pointing to earlier points made about the staff down there.

Highly ranked recruits > coddled, for lack of a better word, > recruited under the guise of "you are who you are, have fun" vs "the business like environment they've made light of > which in the end leads to highly ranked recruits not living up to their potential > and/or getting in trouble due to the lax atmosphere.

I fully realize there are players on any team that don't pan out. I also fully realize that the kids with a lot of potential that ended up down at Auburn haven't lived up to their billing. Why? They weren't developed into good players.

Let's not forget, Malzahn has had his hands in on their last five or six classes. Take away two QB's that transferred in and what are we looking at down there?

I'm thinking the aubrun train wreck is on a faster schedule than, say, A&M and LSU.

I wouldn't say any faster than LSU but this is following the script written when Chizik was fired, when Craig was hired, when Boom was hired ...

One more time - you're missing my point. I'll spell it out again:

THEY DIDN'T PAN OUT WHEN MUSCHAMP WAS THERE, SO WHAT DO THEY LOSE BY HIM LEAVING? NOTHING.

THEY WILL GET THE SAME TYPE OF RECRUITS REGARDLESS OF WHO THE D COORDINATOR IS.

We're basically agreeing.

Thanks,

Tidestalker

@Tidestalker We saw very little improvement under Boom. A funny little thing about that ... it's the same thing forecasted here by a lot due to him not having players to fit his system.

Was it Boom or the "Jimmy's and Joe's?" To get that answer we'd have to ask Ellis Johnson. Or, Brian Van Gorder. Or, bring Ted Roof and Paul Rhoads into the conversations.

The addition of Muschamp gave a little veil for Gus to hide behind. The loss, as I see this, removes that veil and others around the country—fans, players, parents, and media—are seeing the entire picture.

Has Malzhan and company really been using Alabama's "business like approach" in recruiting against them (or attempting to)?

Tim, had a meeting last night with a guy that works for AHFOnline about a social media marketing campaign. I've known him for around 10 years and he's never been shy about being an AU fan.

Last night he tells me, "My Dad always told me how bad the Barfield years were. I think about to learn it first hand."

Good points... All makes sense.

Some HC's just have a hard time putting it all together. Muschamp at UF had great Defenses, no offenses. Gus at Auburn has had the opposite at times. Saban has done a nice job of keeping his offenses good enough to win big in most years.

I think McElwain learned a lot from CNS in terms of this. I know UF's offense ended up sucking, but the truth will come out next year when they can play a QB all season (assuming this happens). If Greir had not been suspended things may have ended better for them. Not sure who takes over since he misses half of next year though...

The other coach who comes to mind that consistently has good O's and D's is Shaw at Stanford. Steady, solid teams out there. I like his work. Would love to see him in the mix here at UA if CNS ever calls it quits.
