Shula era was horrible. The only time in my history of watching Bama football did I ever think Bama football may never recover.

Unfortunately, for Shula and Alabama fans, I think we suffered karma for the Sylvester Croom debacle…

I like Croom, but I don't think he'd have been a good fit either, long term anyway. We needed someone with no Bama ties, but with enough pull to come in and clean some house on some stuff. We got lucky that Saban kind of fell into our lap at the same time we had to made a change, because very, very few could have rid the program (athletic department and beyond) of some lingering cancers in the way he was able to right away. Entitlement evaporated the second he stepped off that plane at the airport.
