BREAKING: DuBose, former Alabama coach, shot in hunting accident

Yeah, I'm hearing now he was working in the yard or on his farm when it happened. I'm assuming just an older person having an accident with a firearm.

This was the last story I heard. He carries a pistol for snakes on the property.

Exactly what I thought, was snakes once I saw the caliber report. Accidental discharge in his pocket I guess? Fired off into his quad area maybe?

Sounds like he needs to ditch the revolver and get a semi-auto with a slide lock.

Or just pay someone to do the yard work maybe. He's at that age where he might want to get away from doing that stuff anyway.

Wasn't it a NY Giant receiver that went into a restaurant and accidentally shot himself? Lost his job and nearly his manhood. No do-over on the second one.

Plaxico Burress. He went to prison over that.
New York gun laws! Pretty strict and he thought he could skate.

Meh, that was pretty much Bloomberg's doings. He got mad because the hospital covered for him. They didn't report the shooting to NYPD and they only found out when the media covered it. Bloomberg got pissed and demanded that he be prosecuted and given the max. No one at the hospital ever fessed up to whether Burress paid someone not to report it or if they were just a Giants fan lol It was pretty silly and pretty much any first time offender, even in NYC, would have been given a stiff fine and community service for their first strike. They just wanted to make an example out of him.

Or that too...

Disagree. Stay active, stay fit, stay alive. Yard work is what keeps a lot of old folks going.

That said and since it seems he will be okay, I can share my shameful initial thought when I first saw the headline of a "hunting" accident. I had simply imagined that he shot himself in the foot and couldn't help but think that he finally achieved the literal act after so, so many figurative ones of the type.

I heard it was his torso which was the reason for him to be life flighted to another hospital. Makes you wonder how the gun could have swiveled 180 degrees.

Possibly could have been on his hip or even an under the arm holster. No one will know for sure until he speaks or even if he speaks about it.
