šŸˆ Mike DuBose accidentally shot himself

Yeah, I'm hearing now he was working in the yard or on his farm when it happened. I'm assuming just an older person having an accident with a firearm.

This was the last story I heard. He carries a pistol for snakes on the property.

Exactly what I thought, was snakes once I saw the caliber report. Accidental discharge in his pocket I guess? Fired off into his quad area maybe?

Sounds like he needs to ditch the revolver and get a semi-auto with a slide lock.

I heard it was his torso which was the reason for him to be life flighted to another hospital. Makes you wonder how the gun could have swiveled 180 degrees.

Possibly could have been on his hip or even an under the arm holster. No one will know for sure until he speaks or even if he speaks about it.

I'm friends with the d-line coach at Opp. He said that Coach DuBose was still very involved with the program down there. I'm definitely going to be asking him when I see him in a couple of weeks lol

He’s been more or less coaching the D up at Opp now for the last couple of years. They just made it official since it’s been such a tough year for them. Honestly, I think these old timer coaches just have a hard time doing anything else and being satisfied and content in their latter years. They just love to coach young athletes so much. More power to Coach. I’ve said it before, I see the man every single day (sometimes twice) walking in front of my house and he just has such a painful looking gait. Good luck to the Bobcats and I hope the Coach enjoys his time.

Not at all. He's barely been around the last two years.

Sort of. When Opp terminated Coach Whigham and hired Coach Hill in 2014, Coach Dubose came along shortly thereafter (can’t remember if he moved in 2014/15 timeframe). He was helping out in an unpaid position for a season or two then I stopped seeing him on the sidelines on Friday nights. He’s a staple in Opp. He’s always around.

Yeah I get all that, I'm just saying he hasn't been very much of the program the last few years. One of my buddies is the current D-Line coach and he said that DuBose would offer advice when he was around here and there but it wasn't often. Opp is playing it up like DuBose just wants to get back into coaching but I would imagine they probably asked him to come help out. I mean they allowed 48 points per game this season, I dont blame em pulling out a hail mary.

Yeah it was a rough year. They had a lot of underclassmen trying to fill a lot of holes and were severely undersized and underexperienced. That’s the nice thing about high school ball - the ebb and flow can change quickly from year to year.

Oh tell me about it, Enterprise goes from 10-2 with the 7A Coach of the Year and literally one play away from being in the title game in 2016 to 4-16 combined the next two years and looking for a new coach.
