🏈 Meanwhile.........

I'm not convinced they can afford to fire him, keep paying him (along with everyone else they're still paying) and pony up money for a top tier coach (even if they can attract one after the Charlie-Foxtrot coaching carousel they've become).

Tough predicament. Can't afford to fire him, can't afford to keep him.

They really don't need to fire him.. .just fire the OC and hire a real one and tell Gus to keep his mouth shut ;) I think the more and more they see Gus' offense, the realize they hired a High School coach. What blows my mind is that that fool Jacobs gave him a raise at the start of the year... oh boy... he sure tethered his ship to Gus and they both are going to sink a slow death... :)

My honest opinion of that program is that the Boosters and Pat Dye are running it anyway and only want a coach that will let them run the show behind the scenes (not the play calling and such, but more the organization as a whole). There is so much meddling going on in that program I doubt any coach would be able to get it running well. There is no single leader running the train.

I think that is what got tubberville axed... he kicked them all out and wouldn't let them have their hands all overthings. Now they just want a "YES" man to be the coach and let them have their way... really kinda sad... well, not really ;)

the person they need to fire is pat dye. as long as he's there, the head coach will never truly be a head coach. he'll always have to answer to pat dye for everything and will never be in charge of the team.

What ever gave them the idea that they were supposed to be any good ? Serious question. I'm not kidding. Nothing about their history suggest they are supposed to be a good team outside of their standard once in every 20 years or so luckathon.

And people say Chadd Scott isn't a barner.

That’s not what I want Auburn to be and those are not the stories I want to read about Auburn.

I have a different perspective on this living outside the state of Alabama. Outside of Alabama, many people wrongly believe Auburn is a second -ate college, primarily a football factory, where a culture of cheating exists in order to achieve Saturday glory. I don’t know why so many people want to believe that despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, but they do. Hiring Briles would prove all those people right.
Why Auburn shouldn't (and won't) hire Art Briles, now or ever

While I don't live in Alabama NOW...same existed while I was there and I doubt it's changed.

i will say that 2 guys that i work with who are auburn fans are not your typical auburn fans. they know they're not good and don't sugarcoat anything about it. that's why i like them and will readily have a conversation with them about football. they're realists, which is quite refreshing.
