This tweet caught my eye this morning. I wasn't familiar with it until doing a little research. At first, I thought it may be an award from Mater Dei due to Williams also being from California (couldn't recall if he went to Mater Dei or not.) After looking to get a little more details I see this...

Jonah Williams Award
Reuben Foster Award
Landon Collins Award
Minkah Fitzpatrick Award (and he's still in school as is Kyler Murray who the QB award it titled after [while backing up Mayfield.)

Not sure when this all started the MaxPreps...interesting, none-the-less.

All this strikes me as odd, unique...baffling? Why name awards after players who are currently in school? Or, a player who has been beaten out of his position?
