Saw Bama commitment Markail Benton (Central-Phenix City) up close and personal tonight. Kid is a legit baller, fast as hell. Reminds me of Tim Williams too (not real big, kindy lanky but scary speed). He had an Alabama towel hanging out of his pants so I would say that commitment is firm. He even played some wildcat QB late. Impressed with him.
Not so much impressed with his teammate, Justyn Ross, tho. Have no clue how some considering him to be a 5-star other than his height. Dont keep me wrong kid is unbelievably talented but his routes are really lazy and he was tipping their hand every snap. You could tell where the ball was going by the way he played, and if it only took me two series to figure that out it cant take defenses much longer. Their QB sucks (as a passer) so every play has a predetermined pass (if its not there he runs) and on the plays where Ross wasnt the #1 target he would just jog and not even pretend to be actually running a route. It was pathetic. He did make an insane jumpball catch at one point over Enterprise's best player, Marcus Jones (committed to Purdue) and then proceeded to literally drag him to the one. They played him man-to-man the entire first half until he made two big catches (2-80) and then they put a safety over top to double him, he never touched the ball again but it exposed the shit out of Enterprise's interior defense. With that safety moved outside they gashed em for nearly 300 yards rushing... in the second half.
