🏈 Mark Richt Fired...

In Kirby's case the conversations weren't about leaving for a HC position following 2015 but 2016 due to being vested in the retirement system.

@TerryP , Suttles tweeted this a few weeks ago and here was my thinking then: If he gets a head coaching job that is going to pay him $4 + million per year, why is he worried about needing one more year before being vested in the state's retirement system? And especially if he plans on coming back to UA down the road.

Of course I'm thinking out my ass here, I don't have any idea how much being vested in the state's retirement system is worth. It might be worth it to him to pass up an opportunity to leave but I doubt it.

Well one thing for sure, we lose guys every single year do to transfer. And since our classes have been so great, when one leaves, he was usually a high profile guy at some point.

I know some will be offended, but I will throw a few names out of guys whom I could see that may be disappointed with their role and could head for greener pastures.

Most likely IMO:

Tony Brown - Off field and attitude stuff hindering him more than talent. Mo Smith seems to have passed him up (at least on Saturday) and obviously Marlon Humphrey and Minkah Fitz are returners ahead of him.

David Cornwell - If rumors are anywhere near accurate, Barnett looks to be in line next year and Cornwell found himself in the doghouse. Big time QB recruits rarely stick around to waste eligibility anymore. I hope he stays but it seems unlikely

Alec Morris - Probably graduates or graduated and can transfer without having to sit out. Can't blame him.. Seems like a good enough player and guy, but still never got a chance to play.

Jonny Dwight - Changed positions and gets no mention of pushing for PT. Seems highly unlikely he ever plays here

Less likely IMO:

Chris Black - Probably graduated or close to it. Seems to get beaten out every year and/or the not very trusted by the coaches. Probably wants to play somewhere in his last season

Ronnie Clark - Highly unlikely to break the rotation at RB, and was recruited as a DB. Has a super high ceiling, could be a stud somewhere else.

Walker Jones - Younger brother of Barrett and Harrison - Can't say I've ever seen him being seriously considered in practice reports or on game day. He's 3 years in and may want to play somewhere. LB at Bama is a tough place if you're not uber talented

Josh Frazier - I feel like he's in line to play, a lot, but didn't see much of the field at all this year. Some kids get impatient. I'm thinking he sticks around but maybe he feels overlooked here after 2 years

Kendell Sheffield - Super talented kid out of H.S., but with all the young talent in the d backfield he may want to play somewhere else. I thought he would be the guy that made the impact Minkah Fitz did, but instead got the red shirt.

OJ Smith - Not sure he will ever crack the line up. Might not be powerful enough compared to the guys we've recruited. I absolutely loved his high school tape but haven't heard much besides some injury news since his arrival

Honorable Mentions:

Christian Miller: Suuuuuper talented but hasn't seen the field. Tim Williams and Ryan Anderson back next year, along with some talented guys coming in. He came in super skinny, not sure his body ever fit our stereotypical OLB/DE. Hubbard put on some weight, maybe he can.

Josh Casher: Came in same class as Hassenhauer and was beat out at Center. Not sure he's big enough to play guard. Lots of other bigger guards on the roster. Very good player and competitive kid, may want to try it somewhere else.

TIFWIW I have absolutely no information on any of these guys... But you can bet at least a few guys will be leaving. I never hold it against talented kids who want to actually play, even if it's not at Bama. For the most part they came, gave it their best, and with all the talent here it's hard to get on that field.

Awww, man, that sux. Lane seemed to be working out pretty well. On top of that, many/some of the best players on the team are walking out. Wow. Alabama may not win but two or three games next season if many of the key players abandon the team.

Kirby is gone, Lane is gone, players abandoning ship. BamaFan334, is Saban staying on as head coach or is this his last season also? This is all pretty much a disaster isn't it? Do you think Alabama will survive or will this finally be the death knell?

Also, seeing as how the program is basically falling apart, have any of your sources told you if Bill Battle is going to be fired or not? I mean, this is all happening on his watch and someone has to be accountable, right?

Could you maybe tell us which players are transferring/quitting the team so that it won't all come as such a shock to us? They are grown men and there is no reason that anything has to be kept a secret.

Thanks.
Lol.

Hai, Altie.

BamaFan334, perhaps in the interest of clarity, you can issue a summary post. Like some of the others in this thread, I too, had the impression that you were suggesting that Kirby is gone to UGA and that he has already told his family. He will be taking coach Cochran with him - it's all a done deal. Kiffin is also gone and several high-profile players are departing as well because of the departure of Smart/Kiffin, though playing time may also be playing a role. Then, the post above suggests that you were told about players leaving 2-3 weeks ago - long before any HC firings and certainly before any Smart to UGA rumors.

Players considering leaving due to playing time happens every year as a matter of course. Likewise, assistants the stature of Smart and Kiffin, are linked to new job opportunities every year as well. So, my question is this: Can you please clarify precisely what you have been told and whether the circumstances this year are different from other years?

Dammit man, your post are gonna have to be shorter if you expect me to read them. I can't get through half of them without being distracted at the bottom of the page. :notworthy

Ahh, I see the bet welcher is here trying his best to troll people.

I wonder how much he had to beg to get back on the site.

I only had to be honest, Mr. Pink. To quantify the amount of begging, it was just one begging post sent to Terry. But, hey, you know as well as I do that I can pack a lot into one post. I hope one day that you can find it in your heart to forgive me for all the anguish and despair that I have caused you over the years. Please give me another chance.

No apologies warranted. Your bumbling and frantic desperate attempts to be cool are often quite amusing until they get tiresome.

I BET you don't really care though....

Thank you, Mr. Pink. Since these posts are wildly off topic for this thread, maybe we can get back to the topic. Do you think Kirby stays put, goes to Georgia, or maybe even heads to Missouri?

I only had to be honest

Can you honestly tell me why you tried your best to destroy my Great Moments thread then ? Seemed like a very childish thing to do. A lot of people enjoyed looking through that material including myself, and your motivation to remove content from it has me perplexed.

Tide and Braves, please forgive me for my past transgressions. Unfortunately, as of now, I must stop responding to WoollyAl posters in this thread as it is threatening to destroy what is a nice thread.

I think he takes the USCe job and UGA goes after a more proven HC. Possibly Chip Kelly if he leaves the NFL or Dan Mullens.

Chip Kelly would be a good choice. He could turn Georgia into the old Oregon in no time at all given the athletes present in that state. Also, he and his brother could share information about recruits and line up a game or two between the teams. That would help both Georgia and Notre Dame.

The email address that you sent your message to bounced.

I copied and pasted everything that I said to the Harry's group ... there's where the decision was made. I'm going to link it in just a second.

Thank you, Terry. I'm grateful to you for putting my begging mail on the main board. It's been nice talking to some of the posters in that thread.

I could see reasoning for Bateman leaving more than any other player. He will have a lot of eligibility left and since everyone has already handed Barnett the job next year.... :eyeroll:

I don't know about him leaving, him and Bozeman, and two other are the share a home type. Not saying he would but I just don't think he would.
