šŸˆ Mark May! - On NOTre Dame.

If Weiss didn't have Claussen and two outstanding receivers he wouldn't have anything. That's been the story of their season.

The guy really reminds me a lot of Mike Martz. Some of you NFL fans know Martz as the former HC of the Rams. The thing with Martz though was that he was an outstanding offensive coordinator under Dick Vermiel when the Rams won it in 99. When Vermiel retired and Martz was promoted he was just unfit for the head job. He was the architect of the "Greatest Show on Turf" and then ran it right into the ground as a head coach. The guy was a complete disaster.

Dubose might be another good example of someone excelling at a lower position and just not being fit when promoted.

I'm starting to wonder if Bob Stoops aint headed to ND. I mean he seems distracted. I can't remember the last time Oklahoma looked this bad. Thoughts?

At the risk of totally taking this thread in an unintended direction.

I got a huge laugh a few weeks back when the ABC announcers made a concerted point to inform the viewers the substitute QB at Oklahoma directed his HS team in New Mexico to two state titles.

Now, winning a state title is better than every other team that did not, but NEW MEXICO. Really. I bet we could pull any of a half-dozen HS QBs any given year in Tampa alone and plug him in on that New Mexico squad and achieve the same results.

Oklahoma has really had the ultimate train-wreck of a season however. Lost far too many key ingredients to an already weak returning roster. And Stoops does appear to have lost a little of his edge in Norman.

Notre Dame will go after Saban (first, second, and third), Meyer (fourth, fifth, and sixth), Stoops, and Kelly at Cincinnati.

And before this season, I just knew ND would win a MINIMUM of nine games with that cupcake laden schedule.

I sure wished we had lured Golden Tate our way a few years back - I think we were on his short list. That guy is a football player.

Nail to head there. I remember a few years back when BAMA was looking at a kid from Artesia, New Mexico (I think it was Cole McKamie). We didn't look at him hard, and he ended up signing elsewhere. What I'm getting at though, is that the wrap on the kid was that he was the state's top QB prospect and had lead Artesia to a couple or several state championships in high school.

That's all fine and good until you realize that the level of competition at Artesia is probably about the same as in Alabama 3A. In fact, I would wager that there are almost as many 1A programs in Alabama, as football programs from top to bottom in the entire state of New Mexico. When you drive into the town of Artesia you see the big sign that has all of their state championships listed. It's extensive and impressive on paper, until you realize that there are so few teams per division that it's almost impossible to not win state championships there.

If you check out the NM Activities Website it lists past state championships. You can see that Artesia has won it almost every other year since 1993. It should be noted that there are about 24 or 25 teams in the entire classification, which includes schools on the reservations.
