Mark Ingram starts NFL preseason with promising performance for New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints have indicated they want to run the ball better this season instead of relying on quarterback Drew Brees' arm to provide the bulk of the offense. With Brees sitting out the Saints' preseason opener on Friday night, Mark Ingram showed that maybe they can.

I really hope Ingram has a breakout year with the Saints. It will be difficult, IMO, for him to get the touches running the ball with Bree's at QB. I realize you said the Saints want to run the ball better but wanting to run and actually doing it are two different things with the Saints.

Ingram is set to have his break out year, barring injury. Last year late in the season, he was being used more and started to develop a good rhythm and gained confidence. The Saints O-Line has done a much better job at run blocking this year than in years past and Ingram is doing great by getting YAC when he gets to the second level. The thing I'm most excited about is him being used more in the passing game.
