Looking at Oklahoma’s record and comparing ours, on paper looks like they can be beat but we have to play our near perfect game. Oline has to protect Ty, make running lanes and the defense needs to improve on their improvements from the lsu game. It’s very possible!

I'm not so worried about Mateer. He can play, but I am really not too concerned. My concern is whether our offense can separate us. Their defense shut us down last year and it was extremely frustrating with Milroe sucking so bad. I'd like to see our offense take control and make it a little easier for our defense. I can't get over us not averaging atleast 35 points a game.

I wish Oklahoma would be favored big... Then our team would prepare like the did against UGA.. or play like they did against UT... this team needs a huge chip on their shoulder.

Needs a " killer" instinct. Get a team down and just finish them. Drive em down and make it 3-4 score lead. Say " you cant come back... MF".
Problem is so far there have been no signs this team can or will do that. I have to base my expectations on what I am seeing. Based on that it will be a lot like the last 4-5 games. Can that change sure but unlikely. Will it be enough? Hope so. It helps it is at home.

We are going to face a strong front 7 from the Sooners. CBV will blitz from various locations and we need hot routes to offset that. So far yep this season we have not had those. Quick slants or using the TE from the gun can elevate that blitz. There is no magic potion for the run game or run blocking. Plain and simple, we are not very good in those two departments. Personally, I would ditch the slow developing running plays and go with straight dives off tackle with Hill. Jam is the better RB picking up the blitz and receiving coming out of the backfield and that’s why he is in more.

We have improved on defense with our front 7 in run situations. We have not improved in pass coverage. Our DB’s play too fair off the ball and let throws be made in front of them. We have to be more physical! LB’s need to drop a little deeper in coverage so the QB cannot throw just over them. I would like to see us blitz some more on 1st or 2nd down instead of doing it on 3rd down and giving up a 1st down.

Bottom line, it still comes down to blocking, tackling and executing.

If we can't run in this game... maybe we should see an empty backfield on a lot of plays... with Simpson a dual threat.. maybe Simpson needs to run the ball and force them to spy him..

I’m pretty confident we CAN win this game but we have to click on all cylinders all 60 minutes, all 4 qtrs and every snap near perfect. We really need to establish a running game.
