🏈 Mac Jones has taken Alabama's training program to heart this offseason. He added seven pounds of muscle and is up to 6-2, 212.

With all the banter about Bryce Young being the next Tua ( I hate all that talk). Most of us on here seem to feel that it is certainly Mac's job to lose, and with no spring this year, he probably won't lose it unless he gets hurt.

Mac reminds me a lot of AJ in what little we have got to see him, he seems to have stepped into the leadership role and seems very comfortable with the demands of being in control of the offense. His build and throwing motion seems similar as well.

Forgive the reference, but this year to me seems to look a lot like the UT team of 1998 that won it all. UT just lost, arguably the greatest QB they ever had in Peyton Manning. In steps T Martin and leads them to a national title. I think Bama will revert back to similar teams we have had under Saban. Think of the Jake Coker, AJ type teams......and of course, the "game manager" title. Mac will have a ton of talent around him, and with a healthy defense, we should be able to get of the field a little better this year. Gonna be interesting to see how this fall pans out. With some teams having some spring practice and a lot of other teams not having any, I wonder what the NCAA will do to balance that out.

It's the lack of spring and that strong likelihood he'll miss out on summer skel drills as well. Those that don't think that'll matter when UA faces USC?

I believe the best question about Young is four games or more?

I would have gone with retrospecting
No. You're hung up on two freakin' passes: one of which floated on him and the other a offensive clusterfuck with a freak ending. He threw three all year but it's the two against Auburn you chose to reference.

Come on. That's not a fair shake, is it?

Consider, last season the QB with the highest rating was Joe Burrow (201.96) followed by Jalen Hurts (191.20.) I don't know if you know the guy in third place, Justin Fields? He finished the season @ 181.43.

Now granted, we didn't get to see as much of Mac as we did Tua—141 attempts vs 252—but there are a few things we did see.

The aforementioned Burrow? He was 1:1 against AU. Mac against AU? Four TD's, two INT's.
The aforementioned ratings on QB's? Mac finished his season at 186.84. Assuming he played the entire season the way he did four games? He'd have finished 30:6. Don't forget, he dropped 665+ yards on AU and UM: Seven TD's.

At 335 a game, in 12 games, that would put him over 4000 for the season (ranked 4th last year in total yards.)

He played real well last season. Real well.

Arimatized. 🙃

Ok. Thats fair. I am... both pick 6s. One a 14 point swing. 10 at least( take that back.. ghat would have required a FG). Pretty much like Tua vs Clemson...
No blame on QB in his 3-4 full game.
Vs biggest rival at tough place to play
But overall i am impressed with Mac. He played well. Not so much special teams ( only 11 allowed on field At a time). and D vs... in ur words... mediocre QB...( or something)

Look for to Mac showing his stuff....

I believe Mack will do OK. I expect our offensive to be a more physical run the ball type team than the last couple years. With that said defense will determine whether we're just a good football team or a really good edition. We'll see.
Right...our D must stand up....
We scored plenty enough points to be undefeated......
But the lack of pass rush and coverage wasnt there....

Barmore and Moses could be the keys to a better defense. Nick sent the last two DL coaches packing but maybe Freddie can get us up to speed. Hopefully this new group of ILB are going to be better than the last two recruiting cycles. Dead horse just ahead.
